i emailed my local USC counselor and she said that the foregin language requirement can be finished at USC.

bumbumbum- you are all good!
question: what was your friend GPA who got in as soc major?

do GEs really matter that much? from what i hear, USC is pretty lenient on applicants finishing up the reqs.

I was under the impression that prereq were more important than GE. However, when I applied as a Bio Major, I had all but one of my GEs finished and NONE of my prereqs completed. My second choice was Poli Sci and I did have all those PreReqs completed. I applied as a sophomore and I got in as a Spring Admit as bio.

I honestly dont know what is more important, but you should try your best to finish as many as you can imo. It's only 15 units or so.

The only thing that worrys me is 7'Ws that I have.

CCC: Pasadena City COllege
GPA: 4.0
Pre-reqs: all done/in progress except Acctg2
GEs: Will be done by spring
Major: Accounting (Leventhal)
EC: nothing...
Work Experience: English tutor, Statistics tutor, and more tutoring

torrance: there was a guy i knew in one of my classes last spring who said he got in w/ a 3.5. my cousin said she got in w/ a 3.0, but that was like 4 or 5 years ago lol.

adamantine: hahaha sweet u go to pcc too. you've got a great shot at leventhal. the only drawback might be the lack of ecs. u should join this club called SIFE, its a business-related club called students in free enterprise, u can get application forms in the T building. it'll be something that u can include on ur ec resume.

Is there a foreign language requirement for an economics major? Because I know there isn't one for business administration, which is my first choice. I'm negating what to put for my second major because the only foreign language I took was Spanish for 2 1/2 years in high school.

Torrance- 7 W's?!? god damn thats alot! Do you have a good excuse as to why you have so many because 7 doesn't look good at all unless you've completed a few full semesters without one.

USC24- everyone in CLAS has the 3 semester language requirement.

Hey all. Sophomore transfer here (hopefully) for film studies.

My local counselor has not answered any of my emails or phone calls. Why does USC hate me? :( Thank god for CC...

goldenjet- I mean i dont have W's every semester and I work full time so.... that's a big reason!
bumbum- okay! USC in in! lol!

How do you get the Transferable GPA?
Also, I want to apply to transfer too, but I will be a freshman THIS year, and will transfer and begin there as a sophomore Fall 2008. So...am I supposed to have all the GE and Pre-reqs finished too, even after just 2 semesters?

^ Don't quote me on this, but I don't think you need to have ALL GE done. I think it would be wise to finish your pre-reqs though.

How many units are you guys taking this fall?

I don't know. I have most of my GE completed except one. NONE/zero of my pre-req for my Bio Major done. I still gone in.

doryx- you applied as bio major and no pre-req done?

Yes. My second major was poli sci and my prereqs for that major was finished. I was unexpectedly accepted as bio. Sophomore app too.

Thats why I don't know how much more important pre-reqs are. Just to be safe, you guys should have both fully completed. But I really don't think one is more important than the other.... unless you are applying to marshall school of business.

My stats: 3.78 GPA at OCC, 38 units completed, 2.57 HS GPA, 1710 SAT, and I applied as a sophomore since I've only been at OCC for a year.... I got in as a spring admit because I submitted my application past the deadline.

^ That's encouraging.

I have...3.5 HS GPA, 1850 SAT, and 29 ACT. I am hoping to get a 4.0 at a community college, out of state. And...I'm also applying as a biology major.

And tresfleur, I'll be taking 17 credits this semester (not sure what units mean?). Is 17 this semester and 17 next semester enough? Or should I go up to 20 for next semester?

Also..at my community college, they canceled the Statistics class for this semester. Would it be ok just to have one math class second semester when trying to transfer?

Do USC accept people as second major?

Transferable GPA: 3.95
Non-Transferable GPA: Same, I think.
Units: 42 transferable
GE: Most of them. Will be finished by Spring
Pre-Req: Will be finished by this semester
EC: Volunteering (in another country and here), work, travelling
Work: At a movie theatre. (Previous jobs: receptionist, food service, and retail. All part-time)
Applying to: Annenberg for communications
2nd major: Sociology (Ideally I'd like to double major in comm and sociology. Or maybe major in one and minor in the other)
Current school: A CSU in Northern California

i just noticed some of the extracurriculars you all posted and all i have really is a job. i work 40 hours a week, and i was wondering if that will hurt me because i'm not out volunteering etc. how do i tell them i work 40 hrs a week too? i will be joining alpha gamma sigma, the honor society, at my school. i do have high school extracurriculars, but i'm not sure if i even bother to put that on my application. does anyone have any insight?

fight_on1: u should definitely include ur high school extracurriculars on the application.

btw, does anyone know how heavily USC weighs a transfer applicants high school transcript? i have over 30 transferable city college units w/ a 3.65 college gpa, but my high school gpa was 1.44 and i never took the ACT or SAT
