Not for USC College of Letters, Arts and Sciences. Most professional school require at least one. Check yours!

400 posts on this thread--wow!
(and I'm over 3,000 posts now--in three years time)

FYI,

Marshall business school doesn't require any letters of recommendation.

Doryx

what is the url for the website to login into to possibly see if you got accepted and when is the best time to start checking?

So when exactly are the letters of recommendation due, if not February 1st? My major (Communications) does require at least one.

Also, is there a cover sheet we're supposed to attach? Or can I just put my barcodes on the letters?

You gotta wait until May when they update the site. Then you can login with your student ID and your birthday as your password.

so this isn't a USC specific question but it's more directly concerned with USC because the deadline is coming up.

Applying to junior year transfer, how far should ECs go?

As many as you can. At least have the writing and math done tho.

Doryx-
was that a reply to my EC question? because now I'm confused.

Hi. I am a freshman applying for my sophomore year. I just wanted to clear up one thing real quick that I'm for sure about..

If you will have completed thirty units by the end of spring semester, you do NOT need to submit your SAT/ACT test scores.

I have a lot of questions to ask now..
I. The scholarship deadlines are all over the place... Are all scholarships due Feb. 1 for transfers even though they say Dec. 10?
II. Do sophomore transfers have a disadvantage over junior transfers because of less units?
III. Please what are my chances??

GPA: 4.0
Units: 20 so far, will complete 38 by the end of Spring
Major: Poli Sci, Sociology
GEs: Completed
Prereqs: Completed
ECs:
-Honors Transfer Program
-Toberman Settlement volunteer assistant (community service in San Pedro)
-Mission Corp
-Children's educator and children's choir director
-H.S dance team for 3 years
-Orchestra sectional leader 4 years
(More but I can't think at the top of my head)
Legacy: Older Brother

That's it... Help a prospective trojan out because this is my first post.. Thanks!

second hkim's question about the scholarship deadline. I wasn't even thinking about transfers in time for a dec. 10th deadline.

how much is the app fee btw? i don't want to click the button to see bc i'm freaked out it'll submit. :P

p.s. how does the coversheet work? Do we list on a separate piece of paper every class we've taken? i don't get it.

also annenberg communications applicants are required one letter of rec. where should i send this to???!! along with the package to USC adm. or straight to annenberg?

i just had a few questions..what is a transferable gpa and non transferable gpa? and also If i have One "W" and one "F" on my transcript do i still have a shot to get into USC? i havent taken any classes yet because i took those of my junior year in high school and did very poorly due to the professors i had. can someone please help me out?

someone please help me?

Transferable GPA is the GPA calculated by USC for the courses they are accepting from your current institution. I assume non-transferable GPA is your total GPA, and not the GPA of non-transferable courses, but I could be wrong.

Furthermore, a withdrawal shouldn't hurt, but an F certainly can. As for your chances, nobody knows except USC, but keep in mind the average accepted GPA for last year's transfers was 3.7.

Best of luck :)

thank you so much! If i raise my gpa to say about a 3.55 or 3.6 do you think i would have a good chance with good extra carriculars, work experience and good letters?

Has anyone ever heard of someone getting in with around a 3.0 gpa (cumulative) but a 3.9 at the current CCC that Im at with 31 units. (with an upward trend of freshman year being 6 f's, a D and a W, to currently getting straight A's for a year with large credit loads? as well as good ex. curriculars, outstanding rec letters and a great essay?
that is me, so does anyone think I have a chance of transferring in economics?

Woman of troy-Are you talking about the cover sheet for the transcripts?

ev09-go for it. I think you have a chance, it doesn't hurt to try!
