i really wanna get into usc and i hope that one F doesnt hurt because im also getting a letter of rec from an alumni that has a degree in the same field i would like to go into

Should I still apply? I got 3 As and one D in the fall semester and am retaking the D in the current winter session. My gpa is 3.38 and I finished the General Ed requirements, but not the major. I am trying to get into the College of Letters and Arts as a Junior transfer.

i requested for official transcripts but i have a feeling they lost my request for cuz its taking too long. (been 2 weeks)
if i don't get it there by feb 1 basically my application will be thrown out right?

geyser, apply because you never know what will happen. Unless paying for the admission fee is somewhat a problem.

guardiangel-request emergency transcripts. at my comm coll i did so yesterday and payed just $10 and waited about 20 minutes. they handed it to me right then and there officially sealed and stamped and everything. im worried as well about my high school transcript being sent out and not getting lost but i think i'll call HS soon to see if they did that.

when people find out if they've been rejected or accepted, could you put up your stats?

hmm.. hope everyones apps are going well!
but yeh im wondering..if i don't get into USC for fall 08 and end up transferring to another college...would it adversely affect my chances of transferring in after my sophmore year? im currently a freshman btw

Thanks!

Im not sure that is the case... Do our transcripts need to be their by feb 1st? What if you are just submitting your app then? could someone answer this?

Ok, I just talked to Admissions at USC.

Transcripts need to arrive at USC admissions no later than 2 weeks past the application deadline. So By Feb. 15th.

I submited my financial aid--Collegeboard yesterday night-22 Jan 2008. Because there are a lot of tax questions, I need wait my friend help me. Anyway, iI submited it at 10pm, but the system showed me I submited date was 23 Jan 2008. Whats wrong with the system? Did I lose my chance for apply financial aid?

I finished everything except the one question that asks "what are your academic interests, and how do you plan to pursue them at usc?" And then the person who I asked to proofread my essay has to finish looking over it. Then once i submit it I have to send in test scores and transcripts. Oh and I can't forget about financial aid, which they said to turn in by january 22 i think but I still havent done it yet. I'm glad none of the other schools I am applying to have the same deadlines otherwise I'd probably lose my mind.

thanks evo9!
i was freaking out about my high school transcripts getting lost.
and
lolll- i think the official deadline for FAFSA and CSS for people considering needing aid is feb 1. its on the website and i was sent an email today saying so.

Ok i looked back on the website and it says jan 22 is only a suggested date. I'll have to tell my parents to fill it out sometime soon. I don't even think I've told them that I wanted to transfer yet. Haha.

is it required for me to have my hs send my transcript or can i send all supplemental materials in one big packet

hey guys does anyone know what classes i need to finish before i APPLY to usc? please help

"hey guys does anyone know what classes i need to finish before i APPLY to usc?"

well it depends on if you're transferring as a sophomore or as a junior.

If you're trying as a sophomore I would suggest getting as many of the general ed out of the way. You can find out what those are by going to USC website, click on admissions - undergraduate, then on admission again, and then on transfer and click on the link Transfer Planning Worksheet.

As a sophomore transfer they suggest having at least 30 units done and to have at least three of the four general ed that you can complete outside of USC in progress or finished (I went to a transfer day and thats what the admissions rep told us).

As a junior you should have it all done.

The transfer pamphlet says that you must have Math and English complete/in progress at the time that you apply.

ok so i dunno if i will be a junior transfer or sophomore transfer because i am starting community college this summer and will be applying the coming fall and hope to have 30 credits but i wanted to know if i needed to have certain classes down by then so would anyone know what those classes should be in order to have a good chance of admittance?

sukh08-
check the pre-requisites for your specific major, if any.
and go here
https://camel2.usc.edu/articagrmt/artic.aspx to find which classes transfer and under which core requirement/"ge".

I've worked on all of the essays, but I've got to make them perfect...it sucks. Dealing with school and writing at the same time.

Dealing with school,
Worrying about getting straight A's to raise my GPA to increase my chances.
Sucking up to my teachers to get good recommendations
Finding internships to make my application look good.
Working on essays, revising and editing.
Working on a feature length screenplay to win a Screenwriting contest or at least being in the top 5 to gain some recognition and to make my application look good.
Trying to persuade a connection in Hollywood to give me a job during the summer.

All at the same time... Life is hard.
