I figured as much. The rep I talked to said it was fine since the major doesn't require any actual major pre-req to be completed before admissions. All it rests on is our overall academic performance, looks like and just overall impression. I know, it's paranoia, lol, but looking at the logistics, we [should] get in. :) This process just sucks. It's that much more worse when it's your first choice school, there's always those weird exceptions when good applicants are rejected.

Yeah, definitely. USC was my dream school in high school, and now that there's a possibility I could get accepted (if we're going by logistics) it makes it that much more nerve-wracking. Anyone else applying to Annenberg? Lurkers?

^^ man, i remember when i was a lurker here. then i just decided to register on college confidential and now i think i need one of those 12 step programs. i KNOW you know what i'm talking about, woman.of.troy. i see you in the UC threads too.. lol :) me, too!

and to bring the topic back to USC. man, i haven't been getting ANY mail from them. i mean, i got that one piece of paper saying something about 'FAX IF ANYTHING IS INCORRECT' but that's about it. ..

I am currecntly a student At Cal State University San Marcos. My first semster GPA was a 3.4 completeing 15 transferable units, my average highschool grades were a 3.4 as well. I was wondering on what is the likelyhood or the chances of me actually being accepted to USC as a Sophmore. I declared myself as being an Open major and the Second major as being Comm. Do they favor minorities such as South Americans. And what is the process of admissions if I did not submit my application before the deadline??

feuerwerke- lol. I actually lurked for about 2 minutes before I decided to sign up for CC.

derekv511- There's no affirmative action practices. I don't know how I'd feel if a school let me in because of my family's Central American background. I'd feel used, lol.

I have a friend that attends USC. She transfered from UC Irvine with a 3.2 After her first year, although her major was theatre and that required and audition, so I'm guessing she was very talented.

mapletree, Woman.Of.Troy - I'm an Annenberg hopeful too, also for Communications. :)

My stats aren't as good as yours though, I'm afraid. 3.6 GPA and 3 W's. I have finished Stats. I work with a new media production company now, so I'm hoping that will demonstrate "interest in the major" (words of a USC rep).

Good luck to us! crosses fingers

einna- Yes, keep us updated! I feel a little late in finishing my Stats but I had been taking other courses to fulfill pre-reqs for my backup school :P

Good luck! :) I'm excited. Do you know if you want to live on campus/off?

Hey guys. I really need help. So, USC sent me a letter (via mail) that they need more information (college transcript and high school transcript). But... I sent it through priority mail so I checked to see if it arrived and it did. And on oasis it says received:

Transcript: Palos Verdes Peninsula High School
Secondary School Report (x2)

But right below that it says I'm missing them... -.- I don't know what I should do. Anyone else with this problem?

womanoftroy- I thought the on-campus housing is only for freshman?? I could be wrong though. Anyways, that's my next question. What's the best housing at USC?

hkim810- I'd call admissions to clear that up. On my oasis account, it just says they received the college transcripts but no indication of what schools.

I meant university owned housing. But transfers are still allowed to live in some of the on campus buildings, I think Webb Tower is one.
USC Auxiliary Services Housing
In all honesty, If I don't live on campus or across the street, there might be a problem with my safety paranoia. Housing is tough to get, tho. :P [crosses fingers for acceptance and then housing]

Ya I agree and I want to definitely live on campus due to safety reasons. But I have to first get accepted :)

random note-
My parents finally did their taxes so I went back to FAFSA to correct a few things and resubmit. Same for CSS, but it says that I need to print the Acknowledgement page and make corrections on there and then mail it to the school.
Q1:Should I just fax it instead?
Q2:There was a note on CSS that said that Financial Aid decisions will be disclosed as early as March1st. Is this only for admitted people? Can we assume that if we can see an award on OASIS, that we're in? ;)

The best way is to just fax it.

Ya I believe doryx was the one who said that the quickest way to see if you're admitted is to check to see what your award is on oasis.

usc24- Thanks! Ok. Kinko's time, lol. I think they fax...

That would be so great. But I doubt it'd be up that day. I sent in my fin aid stuff absolutely the last day I could bc I was waiting on my parents to get their W2's. They just did taxes yesterday which means I need to update what I did send in. I got another letter in the mail today telling me to fax in 2007 tax forms asap. But I'll check March 1st anyway! Since I saw that this morning I've been really antsy that it's only a couple of weeks away.

Haha ya I just updated my FAFSA today too, but I still need to make corrections because my mom and my stepdad did a joint tax return and I'm still waiting for that. Luckily, the due date is March 1st. I faxed USC my income tax return and I received an email from them that they received it immediately. So once you fax it over, you should get an immediate email confirmation.

Damn, I need to start doing that crap too.

Anyways,do any of you guys know which major is the easiest to get into at USC?

cool, thanks, usc24.

Hey - does anyone know how tough it is to transfer into the screenwriting program at USC? I am coming from a community college with a 4.0 and 60 units... Thanks in advance.

the school of cinematic arts is one of the toughest to transfer into. i've even heard that only 25 transfer students are admitted to each program but your stats are great and it's all depending on your writing, you have a great shot given the GPA, obviously :P.
