USC Fall 08 transfers

Yeah, i applied last year and got in, but decided to go to berkeley. now i regret that =.=

Oh-. So are you applying as a Junior transfer or soph.?

Junior trans

I attended a a couple of community colleges last year and did really bad meaning D's and F's in about 27 units. I have now taken all the courses over and have a 3.6. Do i still have a chance of getting in USC or all my chances complety shattered???

depending on what classes. And is the 3.6 cumulative of all classes or just transferable? which school?

The 3.6 is all the transferable units taken and i attended La harbor college, and Cerritos college.

you have to count both transferable and nonstransferable (the not so good grades) into your gpa.

queen,

did you take ONLY transferable classes or did you take some pre reqs that were not transferable and youre not adding it to the GPA.

Hi. I'm doing my third semster now and applying to USC for Fall '08. Can someone please tell me

Transferable GPA: 3.57 but if I get all A's in this fall semester, I'll have a 3.67. (plus if I get all A's during the spring semester, 14 units, i'll have a 3.80)
Non-Transferable GPA: 3.41
Units: 33 units transferable
GE: only need three classes.
Pre-Req: all except for Calc, which will be done in the Spring
EC: Alpha Gamma Sigma, Deans List, volunteer stuff, high school sports
Work: Assisstant Office Worker, Target Cashier/Sales Associate Employee, Student Tutor
Legacy: 1st person in family to attend a 4-year
Applying to: Leventhal School of accounting
2nd major: Marshall School of business
Current school: 33 @ Glendale City College

i thought accounting for USC is only available to freshmen? atleast it said so on the online application
u need a 3.7+ to have a decent shot at marshall... not so sure about the accounting there

First you gotto apply to get into Marshall, then when your there you take care of getting into Leventhal, and from what i've heard its easy to get into. Problem is wanting to stay because Leventhal apparently works on a quarter system from what my friend there said. So you take leventhal classes there on a quarter like system while at the same time taking your marshall classes on a semester system. Sounds painful.

I applied to Marshall for Fall of 07, got accepted but couldn't go, so they considered me for Spring 08 and recently got accepted again, but won't be able to go again. now hoping they accept me again for Fall 08 and am able to attend...

It all depends on how much $$ they can offer me though. I've been trying to do as much research on that as I can (approx. #'s for a $3,000ish EFC...) but haven't been able to found much at all on that subject....

Anybody have an idea on what a financial package would look like for those numbers ??

j/w but what are your stats^^

rijeos-
i was on the usc financial aid site and the only information i could find was that a cal grant to USC is approximately $9.5 k and then after that, I guess whatever the fafsa will give you depending on the EFC. were you unable to attend the first time around BECAUSE of financial aid? just wondering, bc my EFC is somewhere around there and I don;t want money to be an issue. As in, should I really be looking at a lot of alternative private scholarships??
:P

poppin3000: I had a 3.935 GPA, 60 units completed (Test scores not needed if you complete 60+ units...). All my pre-requisites were done and my major "area" or major-related classes I had a full 4.0 GPA... I wrote good essays (or so I think) and I have a very diverse background. I've traveled to unique places (like Cuba for ex.), etc... Before I applied, I was just as paranoid about being admitted as everybody else here. However, after I went through the admissions process, I firmly believe they look at the whole applicant as a whole and not just see your grades and discard you. So believe in yourself and your application... One thing though, is try yo not have "red flags" on your app., so they'll have less reasons for rejecting you...

Woman.Of.Troy: I never got a financial aid package... I am here on a kind of like a"student visa" (but have been here for over 5 years) am not a citizen of the U.S. nor a permanent resident (I was supposed to be one by the time Fall '07 rolled around). If you're familiar with the gov't. and/or these procedures, they take forever to go through, so I didn't receive the permanent residency papers needed to receive financial aid from USC...

I never got to apply for financial aid at USC, I was just accepted to the School, so that's mainly my reason for asking what kind of financial package I can expect with those EFC numbers and very low assets (since USC uses the Profile too...). I was hoping somebody would have the same/close to the same numbers I have to get an idea of approx. how much I can get in grants and now much in loans and see if I'll be able to attend..

Where did you see the Cal Grant being $9.5k by the way ? do you happen to have a link ? thanks..

RijeosXeper what's you mean by "red flags", could you give some particular example? Also if you are on a student visa while applying, did you take the TOEFL test? I'm in a similar situation, I'm applying for Fall 08 but I supposedly will get residency papers in Fall 08 or later. I cannot apply for any USC financial aids right now so it's hard to figure out how much I can get at that time, USC costs are scary.

Yes, I am. Oh I didn't know you were an international student. :o Just wondering what kind of amount I should be seeing when our EFC's our similar.

hey everyone..im a freshman at skidmore college..and this will be the 2nd time im applying to usc..haha im wondering if a 3.6 would be good enough to get into college of letters and arts for USC?...altho my highschool grades (screwed over by IB) and SAT's aren't exactly the greatest in the world...haha hopefully will see you guys next year..and im hoping to get in as a sophmore

Also im considering transffering to santa monica college for next semester..would this help my chances?

Do I need to obtain a new USC ID if I already applied for freshman admission last year? I'll be applying again as a sophomore transfer.

If I do need another USC ID, how do you get a new one?
