USC Film School

Has anyone heard back from USC Film School? I was wondering what day applicants will be notified. Also, are there any Trustee or Presidential scholarships reserved for Film students that USC would not have notified nominees about yet? Thanks.

All perspective presidential and trustee scholars have been notified. Including film school applicants.

I just got into usc, and the letter told me I would be notified later if I was accepted into the film school

Mike, What major in Film did you apply to and where are you from? I also applied but haven't heard a thing.

I applied to production and I'm from the midwest.

Congrats, that's really great. I applied to screenwriting but I didn't apply for the scholarship. USC is my first choice - I just hope that they haven't notified everyone yet, and maybe mine is on the way.

I also applied to the film school and haven't heard anything back yet. Nor have I heard from the University itself. Still keeping my fingers crossed...

Hmmm...my friend (who was rejected last year) heard really early...so it might be a bad sign for me. Anyway, it looks like 1800 people applied for 50 spots. Not good chances for anyone...

Mike - why would it be a bad sign for you? You are an amazing candidate with great stats. I think your in but they are still trying to decide on the rest of us!

i applied for film too, but i haven't heard from them at all except for a request for midyear grades..

If you're rejected from the film school, it doesn't necessarily exclude you from USC, as in, if USC accepts you, you get deferred undecided, correct? Is this an incorrect assumption?

Well, I got in "undecided" without applying...and now I'm waiting on the film school. So yes, you're correct.

Thanks, "fromnewyork"...I hope we all get in.

I applied to film school from the midwest too (and was also a presidential scholarship finalist...for journalism though)...however, I keep feeling like my chances are thinning out. It especially disheartens me because one of the girls at my school had Ron Howard and Brian Grazer write her rec letters...her dad is an academy award-winning editor for them...argh...sometimes, life is SO unfair.
haha...I guess I'm just jealous (however, she doesn't necessarily have the stats...do you think those rec letters are enough to get her in amongst themselves?)

Does anyone know if anyone who auditioned for vocal performance or jazz got in yet? Safiamike, what are your stats. I haven't gotten a letter yet.

SAT: 1390 (my weakest point)
SAT II: 770, 760, 700
GPA: 3.89...(no rank, but top tenth)
My film related stuff is my strongest suit, as are my other ec's. But its all to subjective...

My grandfather went to USC but I am sure this doesn't matter (my harvard interview guy said that only parents count...she said this applied at most schools).

Good luck to you all.

"Congrats, that's really great. I applied to screenwriting but I didn't apply for the scholarship. USC is my first choice - I just hope that they haven't notified everyone yet, and maybe mine is on the way."

I just got the acceptance letter today, so i'm sure it's possible yours is still coming. were you expecting it this early? i was surprised to hear so fast, i thought they weren't supposed to send out decisions until april 15th or something. i haven't even officially been accepted into usc, just the screenwriting program! (it would be kind of sad if i got rejected from usc itself... oh god i would cry) anyway, good luck!! has anyone else been accepted to the screenwriting thing yet? are you all planning on going?

I heard today that they admissions has not even gotten this list yet from Music. Someone there told us they may not come out until first week in April. Anyone else heard about decisions going into April?

Hi Chiquita,

I just got into the screenwriting program. Are you going to their student weekend? It seems interesting but I'm not sure if its worth the flight out there...

Safia -

Congratulations - I was following your threads and I know how much you wanted to get in. By the way, was Screenwriting your 1st or 2nd choice? I saw on another thread that you were interested in production. Can you do a bit of both now that you will be at least in Cinema -TV? Can you double major?

safia - congrats on getting in! When is the student weekend, and what is it exactly? I haven't heard anything about it, so I'm not sure if i'll be going. Did you get information about it in your screenwriting acceptance letter or in your usc acceptance package? My screenwriting letter didn't actually have any specific dates in it, it just said more information would be coming in the next few weeks. haha, maybe i'm not invited.
