USC's Financial Aid Office emailed me that I need to submit some missing info. While this is a minor concern, is this also hinting at their decision of me? I mean, why would they send me this if I wasn't rejected? Sorry if I'm looking at this wrong.

If they are hinting at your admission then it sucks for me I sent out one of my financial documents on March 2nd and USConnect still says they require it… oh well…

It actually depends according to a friend of mine at who is adcom and fin aid officer at another smaller college. The fafsa/profile trigger a “file” to be started and auto messages go out periodically when items are missing that her department needs to put together a package. The only time it is a sign is when she has to make personal contact to get the info after acceptance. She specifically told me NOT to rely on auto messages sent from financial aid departments and particularly from a good sized University.

I guess it was a hint because I got accepted!

when did they email you? I received a similar email on the 12th of March, and noticed that the required document was quickly changed from pending to received not too long after. I would love if this was a hint at my acceptance, and to know there is a shred of hope.

They also recently hit with me a huge amount of financial aid document requests and I was also accepted today. Congratz!

I got the email yesterday.

I am guessing mine was just a fluke then. Oh well. Congrats both of you!

I’ve gotten requests for like 6 or 7 different documents over the last 2-3 weeks including one today.

Oh man I was sent a request last Friday to send in some missing financial aid stuff. I hope that this is a good sign! I live in WA so I think I’ll get the accepted/rejected letter tomorrow. SO NERVOUS!

I got several notifications from the financial aid office too. It seems like all of you have gotten into USC after receiving the emails and it gives me so much hope. Praying that I will have the same luck!

Fin Aid emails are not an indicator of admission. They email everyone.

They do email everyone regardless of whether you’re accepted or not

you guys are right, but they were missing document emails asking for very personal information. i am aware though that the financial aid office and the admissions office operate separately but it’s always kind of reassuring to have a bit of hope to hold onto, yknow?

frostedcupcake, please think this through:

Yes, all admitted students who applied for aid received correspondence from financial aid because EVERYONE who applies for financial aid receives correspondence from USC financial aid including applicants who are later sent regrets rather than acceptances.

Yes, the information requested is very personal information because, by its very nature, financial information required for financial aid applications is very personal information.

Feel free to hold onto hope - the vast majority of acceptances are yet to come - but do not mistake financial aid correspondence for an indication of admission. It is not.

“Yes, all admitted students who applied for aid received correspondence from financial aid because EVERYONE who applies for financial aid receives correspondence from USC financial aid including applicants who are later sent regrets rather than acceptances.” -

regrets for fin aid or admissions?

and these correspondences are on email and not based on USconnect right?

For admissions.

Okay I understand where this dude is coming from. But I mean…what if you somehow got a new box in your financial aid portion of USC connect…

It doesn’t mean anything right? I hope it doesn’t cause I don’t want false hopes.

ilovemyego23 - have new boxes started popping up? and if they do ; shouldn’t it mean something? if its a matter of getting a hint from fin aid department ! If you applied for aid…it would be responded…somehow somewhere :)

BTW - i think there is still another week to go before any changes appear on USconnect :P

Yea…Its like a status check for my fin. aid.

It looks legit. Like someone who has been accepted would get…but maybe I am looking too much into it. I mean I was just trying to see if someone else got the same thing…Then I would be like…oh…what ever.
