@alamemom- please explain this …

ilovemyego23 - i was thinking ! why dont you just call up and ask fin aid office …it could help…you and everyone to understand what this box mean !

Gosh ! i am waiting…

I also got the new financial aid box

Yeah I believe the new box update occurred on everyone’s usc connect but I could be wrong…

oh so everyone got it!

Okay cool. Okay thats good. I don’t want false hope.

But why would they have that box pop up about Financial aid status…I mean seriously…

But okay good clarification.

I as well got that box. I don’t think it’s meant to be an indicator as to your admission.

So that financial aid applicants can check to see if they have submitted all required financial aid applications and materials.

The financial aid office does not give admissions information or hint at decisions. They process financial aid applications. Their job is to gather the required financial aid applications and materials for all financial aid applicants.

So that financial aid applicants can check to see if they have submitted all required financial aid applications and materials.

ok thanks ! and it also applies to smaller scholarship recipients ? deans and other?

I have the financial aid status check box too; it says “new” in the corner.

Financial aid applications and associated materials are not required for merit scholarships.

@alamemom

Okay I get that. But there is already a box for that.

One of the boxes says “Required Forms and Documents for Fin. Aid.” That has already been there. It tells you what you have submitted and what you haven’t.

Then the other box says “Financial Aid Status Page”. I checked it out and it says stuff like Eligibility for Fin. Aid (Check)
Application Review (In Progress)

I’m not saying that this means anything, I just think its odd and unnecessary. lol

ilovemyego23, you are bringing back the late not-lamented threads of yore. In the old days (about 3 years ago and earlier), USC gave various innocuous messages on USC Connect that had applicants pulling hair and speculating wildly. Most of it meant absolutely nothing, but this was back in the time when USC sent admissions out in waves. There were conspiracy theories and other wild notions that certain messages indicated an applicant was about to be sent a notification in the next wave. Of course, no one really knew if and when a next wave would occur. And the wording was often quite similar, but slightly altered. I cannot tell you how much anguish it caused for students and parents to try to parse out every syllable.

It seems you may have found a new item over which to speculate. But like the old days, it may only be a checklist for the FinAid office as your paperwork goes through their system. Still… one can hope!

Best of luck to those whose nerves are on edge.

Does anybody know what day USC will send all admission decisions? I know at the end of March but is there a specific day USC send the letters out?

Last year they were postmarked for March 27th!

OMG! I’m going to be on spring during the week of March 25! My spring is either going to be really awesome or very suckish! lol

My son and his friends all checked the financial aid “New” section and they all have it. A couple of these kids would be extreme long shots so I would say that it is not a sign of admittance.

@Curious same here. I’m hoping for a happy break.

Sent from my SGH-T589 using CC

Well-put and worth repeating :)

Whether or not they’re hinting, we’ll know for sure on 3/29!!!

USCAdmission tweet:
“1st-Yr Applicants: Admission decisions will be sent by postal mail on 3/26 and will be available online via USConnect beginning 3/29.”

Why can’t they just post online on the 26th, so that everyone finds out at the same time?

It’s really not necessary to mail out paper decisions except for those acceptance packages.
