USC First Year International Study Trojan Transfer Program

Is anyone familiar with this program? If so what are your experiences with international study?

I had this option last year to basically get a guaranteed transfer to USC after one year of study at AUP. I wasn’t able to take that opportunity because the cost was so high and financially impossible for my family, but I did do a lot of research.

Is there anything specific you’d like to know?

I have a few friends doing the program now, just think of it as studying abroad for one year in the most beautiful city in the world, and then being able to transfer to one of the best universities in the world lol. I’ve heard the amenities (housing, etc) aren’t that great, though.

IMO it’s an awesome opportunity and seems like a lot of fun, and I definitely would have taken the chance of I was financially able to (I may be biased-Paris is my favorite city)

@asdfjkl13 I was wondering if you know anyone who went to London? Or how difficult it was to get the right classes because I have heard it can be challenging. Also I was curious if students who do TTP also qualify for both scholarships offered at the abroad school as well as the USC transfer scholarships.

My son was a spring admit who did AUP in the fall. Paris housing was awful but you can pay extra to be closer to the school. He also received a $5000 scholarship from them. USC had an articulation agreement set up so he knew at the beginning which courses would transfer over.

If he had to do it again he would choose London (which was not an option in Fall 2014). AUP was a solid college academically but Paris’ culture (and thieves- bring a cheap iPhone with you because it will get stolen) wasn’t a good fit for my son.

@LindsayRB Unfortunately, every one who did the program went to Paris instead of London (I was only offered the Paris option-not sure if this is a new program or I just wasn’t eligible to go to London). I do know that classes can be difficult, but work with your counselors to get the GE’s you need and you should be set. USC has an agreement with AUP so they know the classes that will transfer. As for scholarships, you have to apply separately to the school itself to qualify, and then when you apply to USC, you will be eligible for the transfer scholarships as well.
Paris is a beautiful city, and my friends have adjusted quickly and are loving their time there. Yes, housing isn’t that good, but the city makes up for it! The language barrier is too big of an issue, and it hasn’t been difficult for my friends to pick up the more important words/phrases.
As for London, it is also a very beautiful city as well, and it may be easier to do the program there because there won’t be a huge language barrier. I’m not sure of the specifics but I’m sure the program is similar to the AUP program.
