USC Fraternity Life!

Hey!
I am hoping to attend SC as a junior transfer for fall 2011 and was just wondering how common it was for transfer jrs to not only rush but pledge a fraternity, and if I would still have a good chance getting a bid even though I would be 20 yrs old and a jr when I rushed. Thanks!

I found some mention of Juniors rushing for fraternities in a 2009 thread. If you search as I did you might be able to find more.

I wanted to share some info with you. Sigma Chi took one junior this year. Normally they can take up to two. Other fraternities might have similar situations. This would be something to find out in rush.

Thanks for the help and info man. Glad to know that I will still at least have a shot of joining one next year. I will be rushing regardless though and can’t wait!

I think Sigma Chi took in two juniors this fall , I know both.

Alright good to know. I know that EX is one of the most competitive ones to get into, so if they let a couple juniors in I’m confident that I can get into others as a junior as well.

Just watch out. They haze, even if they say they don’t.

Which frats do you thin are the hardest to get into, in terms of number of rushees they have and number of bids they give out? I heard phi psi an sigma chi are hard, what about lambda or aepi?

Pretty much every single house on the row hazes in one form or another depending on your definition of hazing. Sigma Chi’s pledge semester is no harder than most other fraternities on campus. In terms of the toughest houses to get bids, the three hardest are probably Sigma Chi, Phi Psi and Lambda, closely followed by SAE and Aepi. Those houses have 150-250 guys come out to rush and only give out around 25 bids, sometimes a little less or more. If these houses don’t think you’ll fit in well in their house, they’ll make it clear early on in the rush process. Same goes for most houses. though.
