A lot of the students and parents here started hanging out on cc one year ago when we were all applicants like those who are currently awaiting admissions results. For these freshmen, second semester is about to start. Can you share your reactions to your first semester at USC? Was it what you had hoped for and expected? Do you like your dorm (which one?)? Have you had a good roommate experience? Did you discover any secrets to making a great start at USC? Any advice to this year's new admits?

I know my son has had a wonderful first semester. He had extraordinary professors in TO and also in his major. He loves his dorm (Parkside Arts and Humanities) and found great new friends. He also got involved with a couple of clubs he loves and a grad student's final project in interactive media doing all the art and also some level design on this new video game/interactive entertainment piece, which has been entered into an international competition. To have that kind of opportunity as a first semester student was awesome. And he loves L.A. weather and cool stuff to do around town.

First semester is also a big time of adjustments and finding your comfort level. What are your impressions?
