Upon reviewing the tuition bill, there are two different charges--one for the student health (I am sure it is mandatory) and the other is for USC student health insurance. Does anyone know if the USC student health insurance fee is mandatory if the student has private health insurance coverage from the parent? How is this taken care of?

Go to this site and download the waiver form. I filled mine out and faxed it with a copy of the front and back of my health insurance card. The fee was taken off our bill in a couple of days. I believe the deadline is Sept. 11th.

Thank you so much for this link. It is very helpful.

Yea, just be sure that the insurance you have will REALLY apply if the student needs it. I have a friend who got his D waived from another school’s insurance. When she had an emergency, even tho she had Kaiser they wisked her off to a different hospital & they had huge bills that they are still repaying. In hindsight, he wishes he had just bought the student health insurance for his D.

The USC student health insurance appears to provide pretty good coverage and has no exclusion for pre-existing conditions.
