So I am applying for housing as a freshmen. My major is Electrical Engineering and I was wondering if someone up here can help me in picking the right dorm for me. I need something that has a meal plan coz i hate cooking. Please help me!!!!! lol

Check out the SC website: [University of Southern California](http://www.usc.edu) . On the website is a section called “USC Housing”. Click on that. You will find information on meal plans and diagrams of the various kinds of rooms.

Here on this forum is a long thread regarding dorms at SC. There are comments from posters about each dorm choice. Use the search function.

Stay away from the Honors dorms. Both buildings are dark, damp, and depressing with tiny rooms.

The honors dorm has changed. This year I understand it is to be Birnkrant. Please add to this thread, if that is not correct.

If you’re an engineer, I’d recommend living in either Parkside (Arts & Humanities or IRC). They’re literally across the street from e-quad and very convenient to Parkside Cafe, one of the two cafeterias on campus. Residents of both buildings are required to have a meal plan.

Yeah, live in Parkside. The food there is better, the buildings are new and you’ll be a hop and a skip away from Viterbi! (Worth it, trust me!)

I stayed in parkside IRC as a freshman and it was nice because of the convenience to the dining hall and it was relatively quiet. Arts and Humanities was the more social of the two parkside buildings but did not compare at all to dorms on the North East of campus. If you’re into partying and being very social, parkside may not be the place for you. Also, as a freshman the only class you would have within the E-Quad would be freshman academy at RTH. Engineering classes are thrown everywhere on campus from Mudd Hall to THH. Only upper division courses and grad courses are taught in the E-Quad. But if you plan to spend a lot of time in Sal (the computer lab) or plan to do some engineering research, then it may be nice to stay in parkside.
