USC, I was Accepted!!

yaaay go LA (woho) :P . Congrats for being a finalist! that sounds extreme ^_^ . I think I'll just hang tight for now, maybe keep an eye out for stuff in the mail.

g'luck for everyone with all this scholarshippy business, though it still is a bit confusing.

Jessica,
Please read the other posts explaining the Presidential Scholarship. Not all the freshmen are considered for this prestigious scholarship.

Jessica, my daughter was not considered for Presidential Scholarship. She got it through NMF. Out of her school, there were 45 kids that was admitted but I believe only 4/5 kids were invited to interview.

I applied by the scholarship deadline but haven't gotten any letter yet. Does this mean that most likely I got rejected?

No dapplesmyapples, it does not mean you were rejected. The bulk of the acceptances go out in March. No letter in these two waves simply means you were most likely not considered for the two big scholarships.

jessica725, being chosen for the interviews is still a big deal. "most of the freshman class" is not asked to come, only a small portion. congratulations to all who have been accepted, and we`ll see you on campus in the upcoming months! :)

i got my acceptance letter around the 26th, but it was postmarked 1/23. I still haven't received any notification of scholarship consideration..does this mean i'm not considered? its been past a week, and it seems like most people received their letters within that first week of their acceptance letter. i haven't received a rejection letter either..

I have a question.
i was accepted two weeks ago, but i did not receive any info about the scholarship...
presidential scholar.. dat stuff i have no idea...
and i thought we get our acceptance letter if we are considered for one...
maybe im just not seeing it?

hey, so there's a usc class of 2013 group on facebook, and its really helpful..this is where i got all my info, since i barely got my scholarship packet 2 days ago...

anyways, to see if you're being considered for a scholarship (and which one) go to: Login and login and everything...you'll find out then.

I totally just joined that group!

If I login to Explore USC now and find nothing on scholarships, does that rule me out for good? Or do I still stand a chance of getting shortlisted for a lesser scholarship in the future?

It doesn't tell me I can; when I click on the button for "Reserve now" for Explore USC it says "congratulations on being selected for the scholarshipblahblahblah"
I have no idea what it means for you though.

if it says presidential or trustee next to the days for explore usc, then that means that up for it.
if not, i think that means that either a)you are being considered for a deans scholarship or b)you are not getting one.

I actually applied on the deadline date in January >.< I hope that doesnt ruin my chances

It doesn't really affect anything. I applied on right deadline last year (for entry in fall 2008) and got accepted so no worries :)

i was wondering, of the ones that were accepted, how many of you are not california residents?

Lulu,
Did you receive your acceptance packet from SC? I am guessing you are from Georgia. About 23 students from Georgia enrolled at SC last year.
SC has one of the most diverse student bodies in the U.S. You will find students from nearly 100 countries on campus. I think if you check the other threads there are students who posted they were from Singapore, Lawrenceville, Los Angeles, New Jersey, Dubai and China. Keep in mind not every student who has been admitted to SC is on CC.
If you have never seen the campus, go to USC Class of 2013 on Facebook. There is a series of campus photos, including the Santa Catalina Island Marine Studies Institute and the Health Science campus. Click on each photo for a better view.
Do you have questions about SC? There are many posters who may be able to assist you.

Thank you for all of the information,

sadly no I have not received an acceptance packet from SC yet, that is why I am asking if students from states other than California were accepted. Right now the students who have been accepted are primarily California residents, so I was just wondering if students from other places were accepted.

And yup, you guessed right = ) I am from Georgia (well originally CT, but now a Southern girl)

Hey guys! I just attended ExploreUSC today (for about 1/4 of the kids already accepted and asked to interview for a scholarship)
I'd say about 1/5 of us were from LA, and maybe another 1/5 from NorCal. Everybody else was from out of state, I think. I did meet people from Atlanta (:

It came last Tuesday(3/10), Bioengineering. Still waiting for other options.
