I have an interview with the USC Marshall School of Business in a couple of days! I have some questions! :)
1. Who interviews me? Alumni? Adcom?
2. What kind of things will they ask?
3. What should I wear? (currently I'm thinking dress shirt, tie, khakis, normal shoes)
4. What should I bring?
5. Any tips?
Thanks!

Oh yeah, and also, how much importance in the admissions process do they place on interviews? I know it's quite a subjective question to answer, but please let me know your opinions. :) Any help is majorly appreciated.

Maybe others who went through it can help more, but here's what I know- S1 and S2 went through it.

S1 was interviewed by a business adcom. S2 was interviewed by a general admissions adcom because signed up too late to get a Marshall interview.

They asked about their interests- mainly went through the resume (#4.)

Business casual would be the best. Any bit of professionalism will look good.

Bring your resume and a couple of good questions written down. Don't ask questions that can easily be found on their website.

From the admissions website-
"We interview less than 20% of the admission applicant pool. Past history has shown that there is no appreciable difference in the admission rates of students who are not interviewed."

As long as you aren't a maniac, it can only help so just try to relax and be yourself. My S's interviews lasted about 20 minutes (both were admitted.)

You can do a search for "interview" in this USC forum and get some other ideas as well.

How did you think your S1 and S2 did and did they get in? Thanks btw :)

S1 (5 years ago) thought he did terribly! He said the interviewer (Marshall adcom) didn't seem interested in what he had to say. He didn't feel good about it.

S2 (last year) said it was easy- the (General Admissions) adcom was very friendly and showed real interest in his resume and his descriptions of some of the things he had done.

Both got in to Marshall. Bottom line: I really don't think the interview made a difference.

Yeah...I called USC on Friday and asked if an interview would make a difference, and one of the admissions counselor told me no....so I'm not sure if an interview is worth it.

What do you guys think?

I didn't do an interview. My GPA wasn't that great (3.5 UW) though 2260 SAT, and I got into USC Marshall...

Even though it probably doesn't make THE difference, I'd still recommend doing an interview if you can. It's just another check box filled in like some of the ec's and other stuff that don't make THE difference on their own. But it all adds up.

Also, it is great practice for doing in interview.

Hmm.. Interview in two days hahah. Been just going over what I may talk about about myself. What questions they may ask. Is there any need to prepare?

Here are a few threads where interviews are discussed-

Thanks a lot cc411. Deeply appreciated. :) I'll read through em' now.
