USC IR/ Global business or Michigan Econ??

I just got accepted to USC International Relations/Global Business! Is anyone currently in this major? I want to know the balance between Interntaional Relations and Business. For this major, is there a heavy emphasis on IR?
In fact, I am only interested in the Business part (I dont even wanna take the IR Courses haha), thus if I'm going for USC, I would seek internal transfer to Marshall's Business admin.

I'm also admitted to Michigan's Economics. I like how Michigan's reputation is a traditionally prestigious school, but I dont wanna study PURE economics. Which one should I go for? ?_? Thanks guys!

sarcastic,
Do you mean the Marshall (BAIR) program? This is a joint program with Marshall School of Business and the School of International Relations.

Before the curriculum changes at Marshall in the BAIR program there were only 24 IR units. You can call to check on any revisions at 800 352 5719.

Prestige is a matter of opinion. Marshall has many distinguished “Centers of Excellence”. These are research and training entities that bridge the academic and business worlds.
Two of special interest are:

Center for International Business Education and Research

This is one of 31 national centers supported by the U.S. Dept. of ED. It links research capacities and language instruction with the foremost issues facing U.S. business. It has supported about 150 curriculum-related and research projects that serve the university and business community.

Center for Global Innovation

The center is a consortium of marketing researchers at USC, Imperial College of London and Cambridge University. It produces and disseminates research on innovation and assists firms through consulting and USC student projects.

The Marshall School of Business is ranked in the top ten by U.S. News latest rankings. Programs ranked highly are:

Accounting
5th

Entrepreneurship
3rd

International Business
5th

Real Estate
6th

Marketing
10th

Marshall is quite selective. For the 2008-2009 year the admit rate was 20%. In a survey of recruiters Marshall was ranked 5th.

USC offers smaller classes than Michigan with a student faculty ratio of 9/1, Michigan 15/1; much more diverse student body, more selective student body, more faculty resources SC 27th, Michigan 74th; much lower acceptance rate and a far higher alumni giving rank. The university has a strong alumni network as well as long standing ties with Asian countries. About 11% of undergraduates are international students.
