USC Letters Hitting LA County

Thanks!! I really hope it comes. My son will be so happy if he gets in! I’ll be watching for the mailman, and then staring at that envelope until he gets home from school to open it!!

Congrats everybody that got in!!! I’ll probably be waiting for a while more but i really hope i get accepted!
Did any of you receive any kind of financial aid info? Was it part of the admission packet?

FindAPlace! Hooray! Such good news.

Has anyone from San Diego received a letter yet? Do the letters come in a large envelope or a regular size one?

Congrats FindAPlace! I know two professors at SC whose kids did not get acceptances (one last year, one the year before). There is NO guarantee at all–and the student must earn their spot.

Is your S set on USC or…?

werty, Post #60 by littlered3 on this thread mentions some friends in San Diego who have received theirs, but no first-hand accounts yet. It is a large envelope by Priority Mail. Good luck!

Orange County got the fat envelopes today!

Thanks for that info madbean. Trying to be objective, but I do think my S did earn his spot. I’ll post his stats later and see how they sack up with others being posted. Having an in house math prof in H to help him with his online classes in linear algebra and multivariable calculus helped my S to boost the rigor of his courses.

USC is his top choice in CA. All he has left now are even more reachy schools, plus two others that in his mind are on par with USC, quality and prestige wise. One he hasn’t yet visited and the other is in the snow zone, so I’m betting USC beats them out.

Augh so according to alamemom southern California should’ve gotten the letters today…and I live in Los Angeles…■■■.

Letters will be continue to be mailed through the end of March - these are not the last af the mailings, bob! There are lots of acceptances to come.

Do not panic if you’re local but don’t have your letter yet. It does NOT mean that you are rejected. A number of people in our city had letters before my kid received his letter. This might have to do with a quirk of the USPS or letters going out in batches – who know? But acceptances should keep arriving for the next couple of weeks. There are also spring admit letters that tend to come a bit later.

For those who go by the theory that these letters may come in alpha batches, our last name begins with “A.”

Heh … just realized FindAPlace … the A is there.

^ My last name ends at the end of the alphabet. So definitely not by alphabet.

in OC and no letter yet…

=(

so do these packets have scholarship award info for the smaller awards? or will those come later?

To Jazz/shreddermom: Your son has to get into USC with his grades/tests and other activities and then they look to see that he has great talent. I know a student who won an individual Downbeat award and is amazing but was a good student who didn’t get into USC so therefore could not go to Thornton. My d. is a junior at USC as an oboe performance major and I thought it was her talent/audition that got her in, but later realized it was her grades that got her in–the talent got her into Thornton. To get into USC as a freshman admit means that your s. is a talented and a very bright student. I also heard that for the 4th straight year that this is a highly competitive year with record number of applicants. Congrats to all that have been accepted. USC has been an amazing place with wonderful opportunities for my d. Good luck to all!

i live in san bernardino county… no letter yet but keepin my hopes up… theres always monday or the rest of march right? hehe congrats to everyone who’s been accepted and wish me luck :-)

Expect letters later than usual. Its USPS. Government run!

Well, I guess I’ll just wait out the rest of March and hope for the best then. Good luck to everyone else, too

alamemommy…thanks for always being so upbeat and so encouraging and such a good “online mommy” to those of us that are hoping for the best.

You are the only one here that knows my stats…, I am very realistic, but just wanted you to know how special I think you are.

Your posts here made a difference for me. :0)
