<p>USC is one of the best schools on the west coast, but as for the area around the campus, it is not that great. I was housed in a dorm room right on Figueroa (I think Trojan Hall) for a Summer Conference, and I was constantly woken up by ambulence and police sirens, plus, I heard gunshots during the night. Still, I never felt unsafe, they have a very good oncampus Public Safety department.</p>

<p>Never heard gunshots in my years at SC. I have heard plenty of sirens and helicopters flying by though.</p>
