USC life in LA

food at Parkside restaurant doesn't really change at all, it is always pizza, hotdog, burger, salad, pasta, etc.... I got sick of it after the 2nd week. And for food at everybody's kitchen(EVK), I can tell by the first bite that that pretty much all the hot food are frozen food.
They basically just heat the frozen food and put some sauce to make the food edible.
Meh, and the breakfast is the SAME everyday, bacon, sausage, egg, etc....

I was just wondering , is there a common kitchen in flour tower ??
thank

You can say that again...
I visit Puzzles for food almost every night!

Great joint, I wish USC had a place like that. But then again, if I had Puzzles I'd be packing on the freshman 15, sophmore 15, and so on, so I guess there is a positive... ;)

Believe me, I've experienced the same and feel your pain!

BTW, you said you received a 4.0 your 1st semester, if you don't like USC why don't you transfer? There are plenty of good schools that fit your needs, you should go where you are happiest.

haneen, fluor tower is right next to webb tower and between the two is cafe 84, jamba juice, starbucks, and few other places. right across the street is galen center, which is primarily for athletes, but is open to students during lunch and is a great alternative. if you walk off campus (across the street) there is UV which has a food court with some surprisingly good places. there is also a subway and various fast food type places. don't expect a freebirds or woodstocks at USC ;)

-afterhours
Just curious
how much $ you still left on the dining dollars and meals.
I still got 7 bucks left and 5 meals, all wasted.

What a great way for U$C to make $

I'm a junior, my dining dollar/meal days are long but over.

Dood get over the whole USC whining thing. Yeah everyone needs to rant once in a while, but it's like you stepped into USC wanting to hate it. If you hate it, you should transfer to the school 20 minutes west. I know plenty of people that would love to take your place.

ya man, your complaining about such little things. and obvious things that would happen at other schools like high tuition, big classes, bad meal plan. you act like you have it so hard. didnt you do you research before coming to USC? and you admit not having a green card so uc's would be just as expensive for you...why is high tuition such a big deal to you if you would pay the same everywhere even uc's for a much worse experience like bigger classes, amnd even worse meal plans? transfer immediately , and far away.

I want the M.S., that's THE reason.

that doesnt answer any of my questions...unless you mean that its b/c youre doing ms in 5 yrs which saves you money. in that case, you shouldnt be complaining about tuition. also, large ge classes ( and by ge classes i mean those classes you have to take for breadth education, not major coursework) can be overlooked since you really benefit from saving so much. furthermore, youve only spent one semester at a school, and you already have ascertained its a poor institution over reasons that are not unique : big classes, bad food, high tuition and other expenses. ya, ive never heard those complaints befrore. poor you. like i said, ive had far worse, i really did get what i paid for. you have it good, you just dont realize.

besides, you can do your MS anywhere and be happier. is that one year worth all this..."turmoil"?

Saving a year and $$ is THAT important to you? Your college years are supposed to be some of the brightest years of your life. You can't throw it all away at a place that you're unhappy at.

If you are really having a poor time as a 1st semester freshman then I suggest getting out now before it's too late. Your 1st semester in college is probably the funnest time of your entire college career. The next 4 1/2 years will not be anymore forgiving.

And like MrTrojanman said, I really think you are being ungrateful of your situation. Really, you need to take a trip to the UC schools that you so often defend. You'll understand when you see their GE courses in 1000 person capacity buildings and some even at movie theatres. And before you tell me that you're paying a private tuition price, you don't know now but, you'll see what you're paying for come your last 3 semesters in college - heck I'm facing it right now. I won't even bother going into detail, but just hope you're on the right side of the fence with the right mentality.

afterhours, I went to UCLA for undergrad and I have never heard of a class with anything near 1000 students! Yeah, I'm aware that you didnt actually say that but I just want to clafiy that for some people who may misinterpret what you really said.

auscguy, If you really dont like USC that much then perhaps you should strongly consider transfering. Like MrTrojanMan said, the extra year just is not worth it.

I said capacity not students, but yes in case someone gets it mixed up, I did not mean 1000 students!

Also auscguy, I asked a couple of my friends how big their GE courses were. One that goes to UCSB said his Intro Psych course was "easily 400 students". I then asked my cousin who goes to Yale how many students were in the same class and she said "about 2-300". I just checked on the SC website and the max capacity for Intro Psych is 244. Hope it goes to show that your "problems" are not unique at USC.

Yep, afterhous is correct. Even intro classes at tiny little Caltech are huge. Harvard and Stanford are the same way. Many great universities have similar structures for lower division classes.

I know this is off the topic, but what meal plan do u guys advice me to have from the following
apartment
cardinal
community 25 or 50
gold
or trojan meal ??????
thx

Which building has a capacity for 1000 students?

dont get any meal plan, if its not required.

flopsy, actually I think there is no room like that at UCLA. Fowler and Dickson are the two biggest rooms I can think of and they only seat maybe 500 each.

im sure the biggest lecture hall ay uci can hold 600-700

I also felt annoyed that auscguy whined for every little things without much comparison and research. He should blame himself for everything.

After all, to make your school look bad (which it may not be) is one of the stupidest things people should've ever done. Or you can go to another school, and continue blaming USC. Be brighter
