Hi, i currently am attending Santa Monica Community College. Im very distraught and dont know whether to transfer into USC as a business major or accounting. I love both subjects, but i enjoy business more. The only deal breaker is that i have heard getting a degree in business is not the best way to go due to the weak job market. Maybe i have heard wrong? What job can i get with a Marshall School of Business degree?
I’m thinking the same thing bc I’ve heard many people say that a business major isn’t a good major especially if you want a MBA. But in my opinion if you get it from a well known school then it’s fine but if it’s like from a state school then it might not be the best choice. As long as you have good experience interning and stuff then I’ll think you’ll be fine as a business major! USC has a lot of good alumni connections that’ll be useful! I’ve been researching for myself a lot and many students get jobs after graduating from top companies. And you can get any type of job bc business is so broad, find an industry you like and look for possible management jobs there.
But if you’re into accounting you should look into business Econ at UCLA. Their “business” is mostly accounting with some management courses with Econ. You won’t be the average business admin major and you’ll have a Econ background that might set you apart during job interviews.
