USC Majors

Hi guys, I’m currently a senior attending Stuyvesant High School. USC is on of the schools I’m thinking of applying to. I really enjoy acting, but I feel that maybe I would want to have a career in the long-run as a producer/director/writer. I’d still love to act a bit on the side though. The problem here is I have lots of experience acting, but almost zero experience behind the camera.

I’m choosing between the following majors:

  • SCA: Cinematic Arts Film and Television Production, B.F.A.
  • SCA: Cinematic Arts Cinema and Media Studies, B.A.
  • SCA: Cinematic Arts Media Arts and Practice, B.A.
  • SCA: Writing for Screen and Television, B.F.A.
  • SDA: Theatre, B.A.
  • SDA: Theatre (Acting), B.F.A.

If anyone out there (attending USC is a plus) has any experience or insight on these majors or any advice on how I should list my top three, that would be amazing :)Thanks

This is so school specific that you may be better off moving it to the USC page.

Ah. Thanks

Huh??
happy1, this IS the USC page.

Apps are due next week and Cinematic Arts requires a portfolio for most majors as well as their own supplement. And you can only have a first and second choice major. With 0 film experience I would say it would be difficult to get your portfolio ready by next week. And don’t most Acting BFA majors require auditions? I don’t mean to be Debbie Downer but I would say pick the major at USC where you can pull together the app by next week and then identify some other colleges that have later deadlines.
