USC Marshall, CA Junior College transfer

Can anyone brief me on what it takes to get into Marshall as an Accounting major? I want to transfer when Fall 2012 rolls around; by that time I'll have completed Econ 1 and 2, Accounting 1 and 2, Calculus 1 and 2, English 101 and 102, and a bunch of general ed.

How important is completing the Gen Ed Categories? one class from Area I, II, III and IV right? What is the average GPA of transfers to USC Accounting? How much weight do they place on work and extracurriculars, and do they need letters of rec or anything?

The best thing to do is to look at their website and see what the requirements are. Here is what I know for Fall 2011 admission; you cannot apply for the accounting school as a transfer you have to transfer into Business Admin and then transfer to Leventhal once you have completed the couple classes only offered at USC. Check out their website marshall.usc.edu/undergraduatetransfer

Is there an average GPA you guys can tell me?

I’ve been looking at the USC 11 transfer thread and there seems to be people that are applying for either Accounting or Bus Admin to Marshall. I thought you had to Bus Admin first?

Hi Poser

First thing you need to know is that transfer students are not able to go straight into Accounting as accounting majors. Admission into the USC Leventhal School of Accounting is granted through Marshall. You must first apply to transfer into USC as a Business Administration major, then take the required accounting course(s) at Marshall and earn a B average in ALL accounting course work done (including transferred work) with no grade lower than a B-

Average GPA for Marshall is roughly a 3.86 (unofficial)

When you fill out the application you choose Business Admin as your major but there is a pre accounting part to it

thanks guys, that helps. 3.86 is pretty rough, but when I look at the USC transfer requirements it’s basically only for one year of schoolwork. Will having a wide range of general Ed (specifically IGETC) and doing Honors Calculus 1 + 2 instead of just Business Calc give me an advantage?

also, does location play a part at all? I’m pretty sure my college is the closest CC to USC, it’s a few minutes up the road on Vermont Ave.

I know that they suggest taking two accounting courses prior to transferring, but for someone like myself who plans to major in business admin be at a disadvantage if I don’t take these classes prior to transferring?

posting to bring thread to front page 8D
