USC Marshall: Transfer Student Advice/Guidance

Hi Everyone, I recently got accepted into USC Marshall School of Business and am a bit nervous for my first semester there in the Fall as I am not sure what I am getting myself into. I wanted to know if there are any current students or graduates that could give me any advice/guidance about the program or any tips. I would really appreciate it!

Just be confidence in yourself and don’t be intimidated by the high ranking of the school. You were selected because admissions feel you can succeed.r Worked hard and do not fall behind in your assignments. Marshall is competitive and students are striving for the best grades to get the best summer internships and jobs after graduation. Also get to know your fellow classmates and professors. Make time to enjoy life and explore LA and the USC area. What is your major emphasis at Marshall?

Hi thank you for your encouragement! I am majoring in business administration but I am not sure what I my concentration is yet.

Would it be okay if you could recommend me some professors to take in the Marshall program?

Also was it easy getting classes with the professors you want to take or does those classes fill up easily?

Sorry, I am a graduate school alum and have been out of USC for a while and I don’t know the current professors. Most students now use the on line service “rate my professor” to enroll for classes. My son graduated from USC last month used that service. Also many students by word of month, get recommendations on professors and classes to take. My son graduated Phi Beta Kappa and Summa Cum Laude.

Also, classes that are popular will fill up fast.

@Ellebj : Lastly, Jerry Arnold and Thomas Lin were excellent professors and popular the time I attended the graduate accounting program at USC. They have long retired the past 5 to 7 years. If you are thinking of a concentration in accounting and becoming a CPA, start early and investigate summer internships which can lead to full time employment when you graduate. USC is one of the top schools for accounting and heavily recruited at by the Big 4 and national accounting and consulting firms. Good luck in your endeavors.
