Thanks Guys

Hi there! looking at your extracurriculars it seems like you are really interested in business! IF you get into all three of those schools, I would say it all comes down to what you want to study!

Babson is a business school, so if you want to get exposure to other disciplines or major in different things, then I would suggest going to NYU or USC where there are much more opportunities than just business. It seems like your leaned towards entrepreneurship or marketing, which would be better in Marshall or Babson than Stern. If you are going into Finance, Stern would be the best choice. For accounting or international business, Marshall.

If you want to work in Wall Street in the future, I would say Stern or Babson would be a better choice than Marshall, but that doesn’t really mean that it is impossible to get into a Wall Street firm from USC. I know several brilliant people from Marshall who got into bulge bracket firms in NYC. If you plan to work in the West Coast, then USC would be extremely good as the Trojan Networking here is phenomenal and I have also secured several internships thanks to the Trojan Family. Also, LA is now a growing hub for entrepreneurs so that might be something you should consider. USC is an amazing school that gives a lot of opportunities and resources for students. Recently, I interviewed for UBS wealth management, Merrill Lynch, and Northwestern Mutual, where all the recruiters were USC alums.

As for your chance for Stern, I would say get over a 2200+ on your SAT and you might get a solid chance. With a 2200+ and your business-oriented extracurriculars I would say that will most likely get you into Stern, Babson, and Marshall. It’s great that you are already exploring the business world and the schools that you want to go to. I wish you luck with your college applications!

I agree with most of what discussion had to say, but here are my two cents.

Babson’s main focus is Entrepreneurship and that’s it’s main source of recognition. It is exclusively a business school so there won’t be many opportunities for exploring non-business subjects.

Stern, thanks to proximity will give you more access to Wall Street and Finance is what they’re known for.

USC-Marshall is strongest in International Business and the Business side of the entertainment industry. That said I think USC would be Babson’s equal in access to Wall Street jobs.

All three will give you a solid grounding in Finance.

Other points to consider:

NYU is in “The City” (always capitalized), it’s such a part of New York that most of the buildings fly NYU pennants so you can identify them as NYU buildings. USC has a self-contained campus setting in downtown Los Angeles. Babson is in the bedroom community of Wellesley while its only a 25 minute train ride to Boston you are most definitely in a suburban community.

Chances:

~3.65 UW GPA/2120 SAT

USC: You’re approximately at the mid-point for SATs and below the average admit 3.8 GPA. Add in this year’s 18% admit rate and I think you should consider USC a reach (A probable yes but I would ‘sit on it’).

NYU: Your SATs appear to be around the 60th%-tile and NYU has a 34% admit rate. Adding in ED and athletic recruitment I think it’s a likely admit.

Babson: SATs near the 75th%-tile. Strong business ECs, recruited athlete. 34% admit rate. I’d say very likely.

Just remember ED is binding. If you’re accepted to NYU ED you’ll be expected to withdraw your other applications.

ED is binding unless you’re asking for financial aid, but NYU usually does not meet full need, so many must decline NYU’s ED FA offer. :(

Wow guys thanks for the great advice i certaintly did not expect so many prompt and intricate replies haha… but yeah i definitly want to live on the west coast so USC may be a better fit. On the other hand would getting over a 2200 and getting a 4.0+ / 5 for the first half of my senior year also improve my chances at those schools? Yeah financial aid shouldnt be too big of a problem, If i get into stern i would go regardless… but Ive heard its very selective and im not in any ap or bc math classes, and unfortunatly i am not good at math ( Bs and B-'s ) Thanks guys

I don’t think Stern is all that selective… that’s just my opinion though. Look through the nyu decision thread to see if you’re on par with other admits. If you like the school the most though, apply ED.
