USC Marshall vs. NYU Stern

I am going to be a finance major in college but I am having trouble choosing between USC and NYU. I know that NYU's finance program is better than USC, but I fit in much better at a school like SC. Is it really a big drop off between NYU's and USC's business programs? Any feedback would be great.

they’re both good schools

but honestly, stern finance > anywhere else (basically)

stern for internships. USC for the money you will save. but i dont like the idea of you staying home. it lacks independence.

What do you mean me staying home? and USC and NYU cost exactly the same but USC will cost more since I’ll have to fly there

In my opinion, i think you should review both Stern and USC finance programs. Look at the core requirements and the major courses. Would these courses serve you goals and needs better?

Since USC actually costs more, I think Stern will be the better choice. Additionally, the city provides a lot of finance opportunities with many financial companies in New York.

What makes you think USC fits your needs better specifically?

my friend told me that USC gives more opportunities for undergrad students than Stern does. but they’re both good schools.

While both excel in the opportunities they provide I highly doubt USC gives more opportunities than Stern based on the fact that Stern is in NYC and next door to Wall Street.

My friend goes to USC and this is what she told me because I thought the same as you. She said that even though Stern is in NYC and right by Wall Street, NYU won’t usually give those opportunities to the underclassmen or even until grad school. USC is in Los Angeles, another big city, and USC WILL give those opportunities to the underclassmen/undergrad. It probably won’t be as great as ones in NYU but I guess she was trying to say that you’ll be getting opportunities earlier than you would at NYU.

of course she says that, she goes to USC not NYU. Of course we say what we say about NYU because we go to NYU and like it!

really, everyone has different experiences good or bad. now none of us are really saying ANY factual information but rather opinions. in terms of opportunities, it’s really what you seek or strive to get rather than offer. no one really offers a helping hand directly. it’s still up to the individual.

These schools are SO different! Do you hope to go to grad school? If so, then pick the one where you would get the best undergrad experience. USC has great sports and school spirit and feels like a real college. NYU is a very urban experience, less of a typical campus experience. It depends what you want.
