USC Marshall vs UT McCombs

So, I have found out that I have been accepted to both the UT McCombs School of Business as well as the USC Marshall School of Business.

Which raises the question... which school should I attend?

From what I perceive, while McCombs is generally ranked higher, the USC Marshall school of business seems to offer more international opportunities and the like, plus it's located in LA, which is apparently a land of opportunity and networking.

Also I have a full ride to both universities, so money isn't really an issue. The only thing that would factor in is that I could be paid 15,000 dollars from a scholarship I won that can only be used in-state (UT).

This is a HUGE dilemma, any advice or words of experience would be greatly appreciated.
My final decision needs to be made by May 14!

Also, keep in mind that I’m not talking about the McComb’s Business Honors Program (I should have applied there…grr), I only got in to their normal Business Program.

bump. I’m also interested in opinions on this topic.

I’m biased because I’m going to USC, but I’m interested in what concentration you’re looking to pursue within each business school. Also, are you looking to work on the west coast, the south, the midwest, the east coast, or are you indifferent? Also, USC is smaller and I think you’re going to see a bit more diversity there as well. I know Texas is a huge school so I’m sure it has a significant amount of diversity, but USC has a solid percentage of international students. On top of that, L.A. is one of the greatest cities in the U.S. and USC alumni is massive in the area.

Thanks for the response Taxi

As far as to what kind of business I want to pursue, I’m still undecided and hope that I’ll just figure it out with the introductory classes. I know that I probably don’t want to be doing marketing or management, and accounting sounds pretty bland quite frankly. Who knows though, I may be wrong, I really don’t want to assume anything without experiencing it yet.

Also, I want to eventually end up in California. If I go to UT Business, would it be much harder for me to land a job outside of Texas you think?

And how could you summarize LA in a few words? I’m quite curious as to what it’s like.

Make sure you understand the terms of the 15K scholarship, because many are conditional and can only be used for tuition and fees, which means that they can’t be applied to anything other than tuition and fees. You may also want to look up the policies of UT in regards to outside scholarships, ebcause they may use it to replace grants or scholarships that come from them.

If I had to put it simply, UT-Austin provides better opportunities in Texas whereas USC provides better opportunities in California. So if you are interested in California I’d go with USC.

One of the aspects that can be a negative about UT is their automatic admission for 10% from TX HS. I heard that their entire student population will be taken up by this rule in a few years. USC is far more diverse with students from almost every state in their classes, rather than the 8% from OOS at USC. If you don’t mind the TX lifestyle then this scholarship may be the reason to go to UT. TX isn’t that far from CA, you can still find postgrad jobs there.
