USC Math requirement?

So I applied to USC for fall 2012 and got rejected, and I recently emailed my USC counselor and she said it was because I did not fulfill the math requirement which is annoying bc I was told by my cc counselor that since I am a English major to concentrate on a bunch of english classes will all said has anyone ever been admitted without fulfilling the math requirement?

tretreusc first, I have some questions. Are you sure that it was only because of a math requirement?? and by USC counselor what do you mean? Did you have a separate counselor for only USC??? And for your cc counselor which counseling center did you go to? Because I might be wrong but I think that each college has counseling centers that your high school guidance counselor reads and then passes on the information to their students.

What was the highest level of math you took?

@hannah
I asked a the USC counselor for my cc
@war
I took geometry and physics in hs and got B’s in both im so terrible in math I try to avoid it :/

A common path but by no means necessary math pathway that many people take is:

Algebra I in 8th grade, Geometry in 9th grade, Algebra II in 10th grade, Pre-Calculus/Trig in 11th grade, and then Statistics or Calculus in 12th grade.

A college algebra class at a CC is usually on the Algebra II level.

Therefore you only took 2/3 of the absolute minimum requirements for admission. Even then, many applicants to USC take at least 4 or 5 math classes.

tretreusc I’m still not understanding who your USC counselor is?? Did you have a specific counselor only for USC???

Also I had a friend who got rejected from USC. They called the admission office and the admission office stated that they rarely tell students exactly why they got rejected. Did you find out why you got rejected through your USC counselor???
