USC Merit Scholarship Applicants 2024

A discussion for all scholarship applicants.

Anyone know what date are scholarship decisions coming out this year?
I think in previous years it was Jan. 25-28

It says on USC official site that the merit scholarship release date will be February 1st.

@fleeingdays
That’s what it always says, before Feb 1st. But it’s usually sometime between Jan 25-28

In the 2024 applicants thread a poster made the guess that the mail would be sent out 1/22 and that the portals would be updated on 1/23 or 1/25

Just put a post up in 2024 applicant thread on this.

Last year the portal was updated with scholarship info on Saturday, Jan. 26th.

@mom2jw

Thx a lot for the info!

so i just called usc admissions. she said scholarship decisions update on the portal in early februray? what te hecck? i thought january…

They always say Feb 1, been saying that for decades. It’s they answer they give.

The USC Website has a bright red popup that covers the whole page saying all who applied by Dec 1 will receive word by the end of January.

They will be sent out this Thursday and received by Friday-Sunday depending on where you live. Things changed a lot this year in terms of how it’s ran.

So nervous as film has 0.00something chance of getting in and a scholarship!

@CindyLeuWho

if packets are sent out thursday (tomorrow, Jan. 23), when will the portal be updated?

Sunday

What are the average stats of students who receive significant merit scholarships? I googled it but couldn’t find any answer really

@bartsimpson4 USC is very holistic in their admissions. Certainly everyone who receives a scholarship has high stats, but so do the majority who don’t receive one. The same for those who do or do not receive an admissions offer in March. USC is building a class and we don’t know what exactly they are looking for. My daughter had high stats but not the highest possible. She did have good leadership at her school and in her community and her essays truly showed her as a person. When she interviewed for her scholarship, they did not ask her any questions about her classes but asked her about her activities.

@Marcie123 oh ok that’s cool. so, if it’s holistic, a 1520 probably wouldn’t be a disqualifier? i was a little worried all the people that received scholarships would have like 1560+ and that it would be totally based on stats

@bartsimpson4 a 1520 is an excellent score! Good luck!

Packets are supposed to be sent out today right? Those living in Los Angeles let us know if you receive anything by the end of tomorrow! Thanks!

Please post on the Class of 2024 thread if you receive a packet and which part of socal (Friday), or other part of the country you are in (on Saturday/Sunday). For example, Anaheim, OC, Pasadena, Miami, NYC, etc.

I was checking my portal today looking for the dropdown menu to submit Midyear reports, and I saw that there were two options in the dropdown menu I have not seen before: “Spring Grades” and “Gap Year Explanation”. Could this mean anything in terms of my admission?
