This should answer your questions: [Expo Line (Los Angeles Metro) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia](E Line (Los Angeles Metro) - Wikipedia)

don’t know when it’ll be done…all i know is it heads to the beach!

On the neighborhood tour they said that the they were currently testing out the rail and it would officially open in the fall, but they will still be working on extending it to Santa Monica till 2014 or 2015.

You can find lots of info on the Expo line here: [The Transit Coalition - Exposition Light Rail Line Project Developments](http://transittalk.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=expoline&action=display&thread=66&page=143)

The two above links would be good to look at, but basically the Expo line is being built in two phases. The first phase, testing now, and set to open this fall, will, unfortunately, have limited usefulness. It will go from downtown, past USC, out to downtown Culver City. It’s pretty easy to get downtown now, either on the Metro Bus or a USC shuttle, but the Expo line should provide a more attractive way of doing so. And along the way to downtown Culver City, it will pass by some stores, eg. Trader Joe’s and Target, which will be a nice convenience for students without a car.

Ultimately, the best benefits of the Expo line will come with Phase 2, when it will go out to Santa Monica beach. But that isn’t scheduled to open until 2015 at the earliest. And, if Phase 1 was any indication, we may see that projected date pushed back a few years before it’s all said and done.

I won’t be surprised if it’s pushed back another year. It was supposed to be open when I was a senior!

That’s LA Metro for you!

If you want to go to HSC (Health Science Campus) USC offers a free shuttle.

Expo line will be open by November. They’ve been running actual trains on the tracks the last couple weeks (I saw it go by Galen Center the other week). This will be amazing for USC once phase I is open since a lot of students do internships downtown, go to LA Live, or over to culver city to go to Trader Joes(1 block from the Culver City stop).

I thought the first phase was only going to Jefferson/La Cienega and the Culver segment will take another year; I have been driving past the construction on the way home from work and it doesn’t look finished in that area!

yeah, it should be up soon.
The trains are already on the tracks (pictures):
