USC Mid Year Report

Hi, For USC's Mid Year Report, it says to submit your grades from the "first grading period." What does this mean? My school goes by a quarter system and we just finished our second quarter. Although I haven't gotten my second quarter report card, I know that my first quarter grades are much better. Which grades should I submit? Should I submit my first quarter grades, or wait for my worser (I couldn't come up with a word) 2nd quarter grades? Thanks!

hmm. Does your school do semesters as well? I know for my school, while we have quarters, the grades that go on our transcripts are our semester grades, so I entered my semester grades in.

Well, I’m taking one class that is one semester long, as opposed to a full year class, so we have a “final grade” which I guess is a semester grade. But other than that, all the other classes only have quarter grades; we don’t have a combined semester grade type thing. And thanks for such a quick reply! :)

We use a quarter system as well, and our counselor just sends the average of the two quarters + our midterm or just a transcript that shows both quarter grades.

huh, well I don’t know then. I’d probably talk to your guidance counselor and ask. :slight_smile: Whatever goes on your transcript is most likely what you should enter.

not to hog this thread, buttt do u have to submit your senior year grades online in addition to your school sending them for u?

Yes, I believe so. I’m not sure though. I submitted mine online, because I knew all of them already, but they won’t be sent out till next week.

I don’t think they actually need anything official from school. Last week when I tried to get my school to send them the official transcript, my counselor gave the admission office a call and they made it clear that self-reported grades are all they need. positive on this.

it says on the “online mid-year report” link that you need to also mail a hard copy of your report card. It does not say your school has to send it.

I see that. Weird; if it doesn’t matter who sends it, why wouldn’t they take it from my school? They kept telling my counselor not to send anything and just report online. Even if a hard copy is required and it doesn’t “have to” be from my school, I don’t see why official mailing is not preferred. It only seems to add to the chaos if they are receiving letters from 30000+ individuals all at once.

I would send in one just in case then, if that makes any of us feel a bit more secure.

Admissions told me to mail them a hard copy, and they gave me a link to submit my grades online. I couldn’t find a hard printable copy… Can anyone clarify?

they mean like a hard copy of your report card or your transcript–something tangible from your school.

My daughter’s midyear report card is posted on something called Infinite Campus online. She just printed it and sent it to the USC Admissions address they listed. A few days later we got the actual report in the US mail. She could have made a copy of that, as well.

hi since you guys all seem to know about the mid year report for USC, does this really mean that you’re on a borderline? cuz i kno USC doesn’t require mid year reports even though u may choose to send them in…but if they specifically asks you for midyear report 1st semester grades…are they referrling to borderline students?

@purplecandy,

i have the same question. I was asked in a letter to send my midyear grades. IS this good or bad?

Also does this mean I will not get the scholarship?

idk…i rlly dont kno…but for sure i kno USC doesn’t request everyone for the midyear report…so I don’t rlly kno if it’s borderline or for scholarship purposes or etc…i heard the it’s for the borderline students but does anyone kno for sure?
