USC Moms only!

So, I have to give us all a pat on the back for doing a great job defending USC and our students. Some days are tougher than others but when we stick together, we are synergy!

Some of the trolls can be quite annoying but we usually do a pretty good job of stopping them in their tracks.

I personally have to be careful to not get too defensive and allow dissension. (Making note to self...)

OK, kudos to the good USC Dads out there too.

Keep up the good work- Fight On!

LOL! Too early to tell yet. I may be a USC Mom to be. My S is still a junior but will be applying.

What a surprise! USC Mom here! :)

It sounds like we need a group just for us–with Madbean, Sequoia, and Columbia_Student to begin. CC411, is your son a senior?
(Oops, can’t forget Faux Nom (and her original name is safe with us)).

S#1 graduated 2006. S#2 is a sophomore.

Also, I believe, there is alamemom, Georgia Girl, ellebud (who already checked in), Nikara’s mom (I know you are reading this even though you don’t have a screen name!), hopefully- FindAPlace, and…

(Oh yes, FauxNom- how’s the weather- any precipitation lately?)

(Hope you all don’t mind being outed. I actually find it amusing when they think we work for USC.)

Oooh, don’t out me! I’m trying to be so restrained  But yes, it’s been rather drizzly.

And what do you mean - I’m sure GeorgiaGirl is on the payroll!

Serious props to all of you who continue to help out here when there’s really no reward for doing so. This is a great support network for parents and kids alike, and I hope the tradition continues with the initiation of a many more happy USC CC moms. I’ve had the pleasure of meeting a bunch of the moms of 2012 in real life, and it’s been fantastic to have all these different insights into what’s going on with our kids.

FindaPlace - you probably have the ultimate USC mom insights since you’re so very local. It’s really great to hear you and your husband are excited about your son applying to USC. My younger D is a junior too, and USC is firmly on her list.

Can we say here how fabulous we think Nikara is? Her words of wisdom have been wonderful! Take a bow, Nikara (and mom!)

My college roommate, who’s D #2 is now a junior at USC, says her D is very happy with her decision. (We were both UW Huskies, she in engineering back in the late 70’s so somewhat of a trail blazer.)

Hi!

My eldest son is a junior in Bio-Medical Eng at SC, and my daughter (#2 of 4) is awaiting notification - specifically from Boston College and USC, which are her current top two after our recent trip to the northeast. Oldest was admitted through RHP. Second is young, but applied regular admission.

We live in Colorado, but my husband and I are from the Bay Area and went to college in West LA.

I have been searching the forums for info. on acceptance letters, and found this group for Trojan moms. Very nice. :)

Hello,
Georgia Girl is very much an unpaid volunteer from a Trojan family! I am a native Californian who grew up in Orange County. My father was a pioneer in the citrus industry. If you ever ate a Blue Bow orange, that was my dad’s brand. Before entering SC I was a magician’s assistant. During college I worked at Disneyland summers and holidays.
My dad took me to football games as a child and I grew up expecting to attend SC along with the rest of the family. Wellesley was my second choice college.
The years I spent at SC were rewarding both in and out of the classroom. As you can see from my posts I feel the university is a very special place!

julsandfam- you probably know aLOT about USC so welcome and glad you found us.
West LA? Maybe we should leave that alone! Good luck to your daughter.

About Nikara- she should be an honorary Trojan Mom because she really takes care of everyone here. I’ve met her and she is just as smart and nice in person. I’ve now outed Nikara’s mom- I’ve also met her. She reads the threads but I don’t know why she won’t post!

Hi friends. It’s been cool to watch all the admissions action without a student in the fray this year. S2 (10th grade) has casually told us that USC is his #1 choice, so I expect to be biting my nails around here again in two years.

Oh, isn’t it great news for ShaneUSC? I must admit he’s brought to mind memories of last year’s QuixoticRick–who (alas!!) didn’t have the same wonderful last chapter to his story. Sigh!!! Anyone know how he’s doing?

If there any local parents here whose kids are in the Greek system- there is a joint meeting Thursday AM at 9:15AM for IFPC/ISPC (Inter fraternal/Inter Sorority Parent Council.) It’s a great way to find out what is going on the Greek community. PM me if you are interested.

I just did a quick search and found QuixoticRick goes to Cal (UC Berkeley.) Good for him! Things do always work out.

Fun! A mom thread! I was thinking of the QuixoticRick/ShaneUSC resemblence, too. Another wonderful applicant last year that I remember and wish had been accepted was Nickel Xenon! I think she went to Boston College and is undoubtedly doing great.

I believe Nickel Xenon went to Boston University.

Lucky Boston University!

Some school in west Los Angeles hmmmm? Confession: I went to USC and had to transfer to that other (cheaper) school. One daughter graduated from SC, the baby of the family is a spring admit. My son, although not officially a Trojan (he is in his 20s) is a rabid Trojan football fan.

If you happen to pass a certain house with lots of cars in front and in the driveway in west Los Angeles during football season and hear screams you know USC just scored. My husband, who went to an ivy back east, leads the yelling. (As he says, “Kill 'em Quakers lacks a certain something”)

We still love you, ellebud.

My DH did not go to USC either and he is also a big fan. That is a funny thing about SC- it does attract fans, even if they did not attend there. You really can see that at the on-campus tailgates before games.

S#1 (25) lives in West LA too and I know he and his friends are VERY noisy whether there is a game or not so sorry about that because I’m sure you can hear it. :o

Here where I live (also in the LA area), I have two neighbours who live next door to each other, in attached townhouses. All through football season they don’t talk to each other, just the occasional hummphh if they happen to meet each other on the driveways. One house sports a giant Trojan flag, and the other a giant “that some school in the west” flag.
As for me, I never was a football fan at all, until my D started at USC. Maybe I should hang a flag too and further upset that poor neighbour.
