USC no waitlist

Does anyone know why USC doesn't have a waitlist? So... how do they fill up their spaces?

My D is an admitted freshman and as I understand they admit over 6000 to fill a class of 2500 or there about. They do have an appeal process if a student thinks there is merit. An admission person told me they had 700 appeals this year.

They bump the Spring admit up to Fall.

How do they bump the spring admit up to fall? The spring admit haven't even applied yet.

JAKNd, my s did not appeal because there was really nothing new & exciting to add to his app. But if people who appeal gets a second chance, or if they pick people from the appeal list to fill up their spaces, then everyone should appeal!

USC admitted about 600-700 spring admits this year. These students applied the same time as the fall admits.

Columbia: Are you hypothesizing or do you actually know that they move up spring admits? My D was admitted for spring; was told by admissions there was little chance of being moved to fall and deposited at another school.....she might have commited to USC if there was a chance she would have been moved up....others on CC who were admitted spring were given that similar answer by admissions..

That is what I read from the USC forum. They said last year, a few Spring admits got bumped up to Fall.
Note, there a few students who send in SIRs for 2 places and still deciding.

UkidMom I meant that rejected students had the chance to appeal if they thought the university could have possibly overlooked something or like you said the student wanted to add something to their app
