USC Official Admitted Transfer Fall 2014

Hello so I figured we make a thread for the admitted transfer students for Fall 2014. Over here we can get to know each other, look for roommates and discuss anything USC!

i’m confused about how to choose housing!

Hi I’m transferring from the east coast so living in USC will basically be my home away from home so I want a nice place to live and on campus is just not appealing. I’m planning to live at either the Gateway or the Lorenzo! Which are both apartments. If there’s any girl transfers interested then message me because I’m looking for roommates and scared doing a completely random roommate (:

@romab93 From what I know, transfers like us would have it harder to make connections because we only have 2 years to do so, and I can’t say that living off-campus is a great start to it. Of course, there are still clubs and activities you can join to get to know people but I think that living on-campus is also a good way to make friends because it provides accessibility.

I was also attracted by the seemingly-luxurious apartments outside of campus but I chose Parkside Apartments in the end because I’ve heard from my cousin that it’s a decent living space but most importantly the students who live there are mostly upperclassmen and transfer students (including international transfers) and I think that’s just the perfect way to go.

You can always change next year!

I’m a transfer to SCA for production and just applied for housing at Century, Troy, Troy East, and Parkside. Haven’t heard back yet but hopefully I’ll get my assignment soon.

Any other SCA admits here? Any clue how to move forward w/academic advisement?

Congrats again everyone!!

Hey everyone!

Anyone thinking about joining Greek life this fall?

@fueledbyfilm Hope you get in Parkside. I don’t know about Century, but I’ve looked up Troy & Troy East and generally they have bad reputations for bad dorms and community of students.

As far as I know, your academic advisement will be in your orientation day and that is when they will assign your counselor to you.

@wdemasters02 I’m probably not going to join Greek life but definitely clubs and activities!

How do you guys get the USC Net ID and email and all of that jazz required to log into MyUSC?

@wgrace674 thanks for your input! I tried to research reviews of Troy + Troy East, but didn’t find much on Yelp…so gave it my best guess.

Also- awesome! Thanks for letting me know about academic advisement. I’ve already signed up for orientation so it looks like I’m set for now.

My STARS report isn’t filled out at all, yet. But I’m assuming that once I send in my Spring grades and speak with my counselor, things will get sorted out.

@scahopeful I think they send it to you after you commit to enroll

Should I live at the Lorenzo? Yelp is pretty divided on it.

So I decided I’m definitely going to be living at the Lorenzo apartments if anyone wants to be my roommate message me:) (girls)

@romab93 Are you a Spring or Fall admit?

Where are you guys thinking of living? I’ve heard Troy East, Troy Hall and Cardinal Gardens are solid. I’m afraid I won’t get any housing since I’m applying so late.

I applied for Century + Parkside + Troy + Troy East. I got an email today and was assigned to Troy. I was considering Lorenzo but was hesitant b/c of Yelp reviews.

I’ve never actually been to the campus to see the buildings. Does this get to happen during visit/orientation days?

@scahopefule, you can actually view a sample orientation schedule on the website. You will love the Campus, it is nice and compact. I loved it when I visited. SCA is the most beautiful place on campus to me.

Any Marshall transfers on here? Has anyone been admitted to the Facebook group yet?

@fueledbyfilm how soon after you committed and paid your deposit were you able to sign up for orientation? I committed on thursday. Also after you committed how long until housing assigned you a place?

Has anyone gotten their financial aid summary yet? And if so, how long did it take after receiving your acceptance?

@xsayax It took about a week and a half after acceptance to receive it.

If anyone is interested in looking for a roommate (off-campus apartment), let me know!
