I have been accepted to both USC and Clemson for the computer engineering program but I am having a hard time deciding which school to go to. My decision pretty much relies on which one has the better computer engineering department..... I have heard clemson has good engineering department, but it usually is for things like civil, bio, and other types of engineering, not Computer or Electrical..

USC seems to have a brand new engineering building, which is nice. The most important thing though is which one has the better program, and that I need some advice on!

CorU,
S will be a freshman computer engineering major at USC this fall. He was also accepted into Clemson's computer engineering program. While Clemson's program is nationally recognized, and it is an excellent program, USC's program is also excellent. (Since I, my husband, my daughter, and son-in-law all attended Clemson, I think I can give you a pretty objective picture of why S chose USC!). S thought it really came down to the entire picture. He toured the engineering facilities several times on both campuses, and felt that USC's computer engineering labs were better equipped than Clemson's. Also, he liked the smaller size of USC's program - better chance to interact with professors. S definitely wants to go to grad school in Comp Engineering, and he likes the research focus at both the undergrad and grad level at USC, and feels that it also has more to offer at the graduate level. The urban setting of the campus and the many student organizations and activities also appeal to him. Another huge plus for him was the Capstone program at USC. Even the dorms factored into his decision - preferring the suite-style Capstone dorms with an on-site cafeteria. From a parent viewpoint, we were extremely pleased with the financial package offered at USC. You will get a great education at either school. Good luck with your decision!
