Hi everyone, so I am currently in community college and thinking to transfer to USC or UCI. So I am deciding on whether I want to transfer with just 1 year of CC and then transfer to USC, or I can do 2 year of CC and then transfer to UCI. The thing that makes me not wanting to transfer to USC after 1 year is because I feel like it is wayyyy to challenging for me since I am going to a prestigious school after CC, so I feel like I won’t be able to handle the courses there as a Business major school. And the reason why I might not want to stay 2 year at CC to go to UCI is because I really do not want to spend 2 years of college in PCC since I would like to experience the college experience. So could you guys maybe help me decide which decision would be better for a Business major student, like your experiences at the school and which choice would be better?
Thanks!
UC’s only accept Junior level transfers so 60 semester/90 quarter units. If you are able to reach the minimum as a 1 year transfer then apply. If you are not accepted, then you can stay for a 2nd year.
Problem with 1 year transfers for the UC’s is that you have only a few grades under your belt and not many of the major prep completed by the time you apply which puts you at a disadvantage. High GPA and having completed the majority if your required transfer courses is important to be a competitive applicant. Some AP/IB credit may not fulfill some of the requirements so do research before you proceed. Have you taken any DE courses to help complete some of the course requirements?
As a 1 year transfer to USC, your HS record will be taken into consideration. How well did you do in HS?
I didn’t do that well but I had grades with an upward scale, so it shows that I am improving each year. And I am applying to UC’s with 2 years at CC, just debating on if I do well in cc, should I go to USC or UCI.
