USC or UCLA for Communications?

Which is better for communications studies, UCLA or USC (Annenberg)?

UCLA's Comm Studies is the hardest major to transfer to, (less than 10% ever year) but I don't understand why people like it so much. I'm a business major and applied to Marshall and I applied to UCLA for Comm Studies just b/c I thought it would help me with PR or Marketing when I get my MBA. But how well does Annenberg compare to UCLA's Comm studies?

Annenberg is better! More concentractions, offer grad programs, better alumni network. UCLA is popular because of the lower tuition.

The most important thing when looking at each school and choosing a major is to look at the course offering. . Majors very from school to school. The course offerings at usc might be more interesting than at UCLA in “communications”. I write this because so many people get caught up on what is assumed by “x” major, as opposed to what it actually consists of. For example, at UCLA, if all classes consist of theory and not practical application than you can probably find “communication” like classes in other departments like sociology or anthropology or psychology.
I know that USC also has an actual pr minor or concentration, which could be an advantage to you.
However, I think you also should take into consideration the type of jobs or career you’re seeking. Browse on job websites or craigslist and look at the different qualifications that each require. I think for something with PR, you generally don’t have to have majored in Communications or PR. Your personality and your ability to be social and work as part of team is much more important than your major. Your major/degree is just a minimum requirement that can be fulfilled with most majors.
