I have a friend who is debating between these two schools. She is international, so USC is about $10,000 more than UCSD.

She is totallly undeclared (for sure not most humanities but perhaps communications, math, business/econ, and maybe sciences).

In regards to the social scene, she's not a big partier. As far as campuses are concerned, safety and convenience are a priority. She also wants a good study abroad program (in her second or third year). And good food!

Size of the student body is not an issue. She is really interested in a strong peer community and wants resources such as academic help and nice facilities (i.e. dorms libraries, etc.).
