I have a friend who is debating between these two schools. She is international, so USC is about $10,000 more than UCSD.

She is totallly undeclared (for sure not most humanities but perhaps communications, math, business/econ, and maybe sciences).

In regards to the social scene, she's not a big partier. As far as campuses are concerned, safety and convenience are a priority. She also wants a good study abroad program (in her second or third year). And good food!

Size of the student body is not an issue. She is really interested in a strong peer community and wants resources such as academic help and nice facilities (i.e. dorms libraries, etc.).

I don't know much about USC, but from what I know about UCSD, UCSD would be a perfect fit for her :) and plus, it's a great (and maybe greater in some aspects) education for $10,000 less

i say UCSD. cuz if she wantz to study abroad she'll need $$ and UCSD is wayy cheaper. not by 10,000 more like 20,000+
plus, USC isn't that much higher ranked than UCSD

Wow, okay so UCSD pretty much sounds like really perfect for her. I think UCSD has the highest amt of students who study abroad among all the UCs, and La Jolla is freaking safe (as opposed to the ghetto surrounding USC...) and if she isn't a big partier, she'd fit in fine here.

what is the difference in class size between the two?

USC classes are quite a bit smaller than UCSD classes, on average.

USCs classes are a lot smaller than UCSDs classes, that I have heard.
