***USC or Vanderbilt***

Hey guys I really need some help deciding om which school to transfer to. I will be visiting Vanderbilt this week, which will help a lot, but my dad is unwilling to pay to visit USC. I will be entering my new school as a sophomore.

This past year I took a lot of business classes, but I am not at all a math person. If I went to Vanderbilt I would likely major in Human and Organization Development, which seems like a nice mix of communications, business, and psychology. I would also get a minor in managerial studies.

At USC I would consider majoring in business if I got into the b-school, or maybe communications or something along those lines.

Distance between each school and home(NY) is not a huge issue but it is a small factor nevertheless. Also it seems that Vanderbilt's smaller size may allow me to adjust easier but I do not really know.

I am a HUGE sports fan, and both schools obviously have big time sports(I know Vandy is no USC football lol). The weather is nicer at USC but that is not a HUGE factor here. I would classify myself as a somewhat preppy/athlete, but I also appreciate all different types of culture as well.

Finances are the same at each school as well.

Basically, I need some guidance from people that know a decent amount about these schools.

Thanks!

USC over Vandy. USC Marshall and Annenberg which ever you got into are much more prestigous and are top notch in those categories for business and communication compared to Vanderbilt. Although Vanderbilt does have a particular major that is able to integrate so many different criteria of majors, Vanderbilt is not as best situated of a recruiting site as USC. For USC Marshall and Annenberg you have all of California hoping to recruit from USC and it really helps that USC has a pretty strong alumni with Marshall, Annenberg, and School of Cinematic Arts.

I prefer the size and overall educational experience of USC, not to mention the sports teams. It depends on what you want. If it were me, I’d go for USC. I think USC has strong arts programs, which I’d be in, so for you, consider what you think will make you happiest.

do not go to vandy. i just left there. human organizational development, commonly referred to on campus as HOD, is a joke of a major. it’s what all of the athletes/idiot sorority girls major in. i strongly recommend USC over vandy. trust me on this, you will not be taken seriously at vandy if you’re an HOD major.

I could care less if I am not taken seriously…the HOD graduates do just fine out of school. What did you not like about Vandy?

Vandy no doubt!

Considering your goals and personality, you should go to USC.
