USC Personal Essay

does anyone know whether there's a legitimate word limit for USC? i know it says 500-700 words but undergraduate admissions has given me two answers: one person said max 800 words while the other said there's no limit at all. my essay right now is around 1200 words, and to be honest, i don't want to cut any of it, because all of it is important.

I talked to a USC admissions officer lately and she asked me to keep my essay as close to the limit as possible. They read a lot of apps.

Good luck!

Yeah the word limit is there for a reason. 1200 words is way too much for an essay of that limit. It's basically almost twice as long as they asked for...are you sure you can't cut any of it out?

i know it sucks but u've gotta cut it down
i was told that though they say 500-700,
toward the 500 end is better because they like conciseness

Do not send in a 1200 word essay. Whittling it down to 700 words can only improve your essay. If you have too much in there to leave out, your essay may be too broad or unfocused.
