USC postcard

anyone receive the infamous USC postcard yet? there was a report of one spotted in this forum

Was wondering about that. My D received a postcard inviting her to an open house and to see the Spring musical from the USC School of Dramatic Arts, but it came back in December. Could that possibly be the same postcard that’s supposed to come just before acceptance letters? Anyone else get that postcard in December? She hadn’t even auditioned yet at that point.

Yes, I don’t think that’s the one they’re referring to. Got that one, too.

Sounds like same postcard but it came maybe a few weeks ago with older postmarked date. USPS. must have lost it for a few months? Ponder why such an invite would not appear more official ?

USC admissions website says decisions will be mailed out Mar 24 and portals updated Mar 27 @ noon PST. Good luck to all!

My son received an email inviting him to the spring musical on 4/2-4/4. It was from the school of Dramatic Arts and started with “Dear Prospective Trojan”. There is a link to pick a date for free tickets.

Is this different than the mentioned post card event from past years?

Now that is very interesting! Did he just receive it? Did anyone else receive this email?

He received it today. Turns out it is not related to the open house postcard mentioned. It is actually an invite intended for HS Juniors who have expressed interest. A few current applicants were mistakenly sent that email before they caught the error. Bummer.

Oh Dang…Well, there is still hope!

The only Post Card we received in the mail today was for an open house at a Retirement community
stating “more veiws, more space more life” ugh… feeling old

But there was a really attractive “older” couple on the front who look like they may have gone to USC
hahhahhaha… sorry, I am really certifiable at this point…

D just received Open House invite in snail mail. The postcard is inside an envelope. We are in CA and postmark is Mar 18. Hope this does mean good news next week!

That does sound like good news! Where in CA do you live “ish” NOrthern or Southern? or Mid?

My D received the postcard from the School of Dramatic Arts inviting her to the Open House/play on April 11th in the mail today as well! Fingers way crossed for this to mean something great next week. We’re in Southern CA. Came in an envelope. Postmark was also March 18th.

My son just received the snail mail invite to the open house. Hoping it means something, but not assuming. Nice to receive it after the email goof.

We are in SF Bay Area.

I know how much stress is caused by getting one’s hopes up (and worrying they may well be dashed), but this sounds like very good news for RALdad’s S, stagemom11’s D, and kate2019’s D. So I’m crossing fingers!! Is USC a top choice?

@madbean USC would be a top choice, but the cost might be prohibitive, We had hoped for merit, but did not get any. I wonder how they can figure merit for theater kids when many have not interviewed or auditioned.

Do you know how many total applicants USC gets to the BA and BFA in acting?

D got the Open House post card on Saturday. Looks like from past year’s that it is a very good sign! Unfortunately she is in a play that day so cannot go. Looks like a great event though. I hope all have good news this week!

RALdad, all good questions. I don’t know any of the answers, however. Good questions to ask at the Open House reception, though. And if you do, it would be so kind to post the answers here for posterity (and next years applicants).

@RALdad I think last year they had about 1200 audition for approximately 90 BA spots and 18 BFA spots…but they accepted 32 BFA students and split them into 2 cohorts. I’m not sure how many auditioned this year, but my son is there and he thinks it will be a smaller class again this year.
