You can get 4K (Director’s) or even be upgraded to Trustee (full) or something in between (Deans 1/4 or Pres 1/2) depending on how the interview goes. We haven’t heard of a Pres finalist getting nothing.
@CADREAMIN Do you know if USC stacks outside scholarships for Presidential scholar recipients? For example, would a $1000 local HS scholarship reduce a Presidential award or be added to it? Thanks.
@CADreamin can chime in, but I think half tuition is half tuition. It is not a need-based award, thus would not be affected by any other scholarships. D15 is a Presidential and she has received departmental scholarships from within USC that have not reduced her award. As a final note, in addition to the Presidential, her financial package included her a little more merit so there is always hope. (we had actually hope she’d be bumped up to a Trustee but no such luck).
As an aside, if you are applying for need-based scholarships from other sources you may have to report the Presidential award (assuming/hoping that you receive it). because it may affect their interpretation of your need. Your annual tuition cost and living costs will be closer to $40k than $70K. I honestly don’t know this for sure, but it seems like it would make sense.
Best of luck in your interview!! You probably got this advice already, but dress nicely, be on time, review your resume/application before you go in, and be prepared to answer questions about whatever is that you do that sparked their interest - what set you apart from the other 50k + applicants. It’s a super friendly place! D is a junior and absolutely loves it. Have a great time!
Confirm. My son has presidential scholarship (50%), university scholarship for $4k, business school scholarship for $15k PLUS a generous outside scholarship. So, in effect, full tuition scholarship
