USC SCA Admission concerns...

Hello all,

I'm very interested in going to the SCA for (the typical) Film and TV production, and I had some questions about the admissions process.

I know it's a talent-based major, but just how talent-based is it? My intelligence is above average, but my grades don't entirely reflect it. Now I've brought this upon myself, and I'm very aware of it, unfortunately. My GPA is about 3.5ish, grades in my entirely honors/AP class schedule averaging between Bs and Cs.

So on an academic scale, there's almost no chance I'd get in.

Film-wise! I've won a few local and regional film festivals, and was second in a national festival. I do a lot of independent production, and lots of paid work for small businesses and events (police departments, conventions, public speakers, weddings, etc). Overall, my filmmaking resume isn't too bad.

So, literally, 'what are my chances?'

If your grades average between Bs and Cs, then your UW GPA is very low for USC. Do you have any test scores? The thing with talent-based majors is that not many people here can give you can accurate chance.

I’ve got a 30 on the act with an incomplete math segment due to my calculator breaking (handwriting math is, obviously, more time consuming than with a calculator). I plan to retake it and hopefully score a 32 or so? We’ll see. Thank you for your response however.

30 is not a bad score and getting a 32 will help you a bit.
