USC SCA portfolio

Hi! I’ve just submitted my portfolio for USC’s school of cinematic arts and I was looking to meet fellow applicants and assuage some anxieties surrounding my submission.

  1. Does anyone know how heavily USC values technical skill? The camera quality for my video isn't great but I feel that the story is still there and I was wondering if this would hurt my chances of being admitted.
  2. If you applied, which writing sample prompt did you do and why? (I did the four minute visual description sans dialogue)
  3. How soon does USC begin sending acceptance letters?

Good luck to my fellow applicants! I’ve also linked my short film for any comments, critiques, or (rare) compliments.

  1. For those that applied by December 1st and get merit which is about 800-1000 applicants of the 25,000+, they find out in late Jan/early Feb. Those that applied by Dec 1st and don't get merit along with those that applied after December 1st, find out by April 1st per website, which has been mid to late March last several years. So 50,000+ applicants don't hear till March.
