I am sitting here wondering when the decisions will be released. I applied by December 1, and while reading their timetable of decisions, got sort of confused. I believe I read that the scholarship winners are notified in April, along with all the people who applied by the January 10 deadline. But then it said something about how "scholarship finalists" would get notification sometime before then, because they must interview at USC as a part of the application process.

My question is, when do people usually hear back from USC? I don't mean to sound arrogant, like I am expecting great news, but even if all I get back is a rejection letter, some closure would be nice (instead of being left hanging) :D

So when do decisions usually come back, and how does this whole thing work?

funnyman,
Be patient. There were roughly 20,000+ applications to consider for the hundreds of scholarships. USC alumni are quite generous and do want students to have the opportunity for a private university education. From previous years the notifications for scholarship interviews have gone out in late January.

Keep in mind the Trustee Scholarships are worth over $160,000+.

@sammiekay. That message doesn’t really mean much; I have had that status for about 2 months now. Once they are ready to mail your decision, they will change your status to reflect that. Also, I think you do have a chance of getting into USC. Although your SATs are a bit low, you have great ECs; the paid jobs, swimming, and NJ governor’s school really stand out to me. GOOD LUCK!

of course, as soon as it changes i’ll let you know! i just randomly checked tonight. i havent checked for about a week, so its probably a fairly recent change. i did some searching and it seems like the date is on par with last year (first status changes were around january 21st, 2010).

Yeah likewise, I didnt check until I saw this thread which might have been recent since I didn’t have it about two weeks ago maybe?

@ riceisnicee

yeah I hope so… I’ve been looking through previous years’ threads and it seems that if your status changes from “forwarded…” to “acted on” within the next few weeks then the invitation may be more definite? idk
