***USC School of Cinematic Arts (Class of 2021 Discussion/Results)***

It would be great info for future SCA applicants-
To those accepted… did you get phone call interviews?

My daughter has also been admitted to harder to get in schools than USC. We will find out in a week whether our kids get rejected from USC while get admitted to top ten

I’m an animation applicant who won’t get mail til Monday! Really counting on this portal so I guess I’ll be up til 4am

My daughter did too and we are also in NoVA! So excited! You two should connect

@TheatreGoddess Thanks. Yes… a little shocked - if the portal update confirms it all.

@SATHater She has six more decisions to come too this coming week… but all are in the 5-11% acceptance range. So time will tell

Congratulations cgb2017! I am originally from Falls Church, VA. Our son is a freshman in SCA MAP. You worked very hard to earn this acceptance. Way to go!

Transferring majors is not unheard of at all. USC deans and advisors recognize that the first year of college is oftentimes a time of exploration and discovery. However, if you received a scholarship for a particular program, or, the program you want to transfer into is very full, transferring is more difficult.

@MarkandGail Thanks! I am in Arlington - so thrilled. Already learned of others from DMV headed to SCA - still in disbelief because of the low acceptance rate for these programs

@Berry01 was your comment meant for me? I am in NoVa (Arlington) and was accepted to writing today.

For people who got accepted: did all of you get an interview?

@twffany no interview Eith SCA - but I haven’t heard of anyone from writing getting an interview. I did an interview when they came to DC though.

Accepted into Media and Arts Practice today!!! Yay! No interview for SCA or otherwise. From the Bay Area. Anyone else from the SF area?

I have been lurking on this thread for a while but I figured I should join in because I was accepted today in Northern CA for SCA’s Film and TV production program!! I was admitted for the spring semester but am looking for ways to make it work. As far as stats goes…
GPA-
w: 4.30
uw: 3.78
ACT- 33
SAT- 1320
I had an interview.

Haven’t been on this thread for a week or two but felt the need to post on this last final day. This wait has been agonizing, but we’ll all know in 30 minutes. After years of wanting this, I’ll know. It’s crazy because I know that we all, probably, want this as bad as the next person, and only a few will get in. I wish you all the very best luck! (And congratulations to those who have gotten an acceptance already!). Thank you for posting on this thread and helping me get by this crazy admissions process. I’ve certainly gained a lot of comfort from reading your comments. Here’s to the future.

Thanks, everyone for the encouragement and support. We appreciate it.

First – to USPS… Tampa, FL should not be listed as Day Two. You blew it and stressed us out (and likely many others) unnecessarily. And USC - enough with this acceptance decision system. Join the 21st Century already. Update via Online first… then send the admits pretty boxes.

Second - Thankfully my daughter was admitted to USC and for the Fall…

But - Third - she was also only admitted as “Undeclared”… which is moderately disappointing. We now have to take into consideration that she was not accepted into her first choice (BFA - Film and TV Production). It strangely did not mention option 2 at all (CMS)… which she would have gladly taken. We do not know if they even considered her for it hen.

So, I guess starting tomorrow, we need to research what that means and the prospects of her still getting assigned to an SCA major eventually… vs - having to consider other majors only if she attends USC.

Thrilled though & very thankful for the USC admission.

Time to crash (as the portals did), as I am exhausted.

More in the future… as we figure this out

I got in for Film Production BFA Fall! I absolutely cannot believe it. Wow.

@WWWard congrats to your daughter!

Oops forgot to mention - but yes, I did have an interview!

My daughter was rejected, which was expected! But at least we know we don’t have to squeeze in a trip to CA in the next few weeks! We will focus on the schools she has gotten into already. She did win most talented at her high school last night, so we had a good night anyway!! Good luck to everyone who got/gets in! I know you will go far!

Thanks @iconiclife and congrats!

Sorry… @moonpie

Today we research and try to determine what is possible in the world of SCA when starting out Undeclared. Ugh. But at least she is in… and the possibility remains
