<p>For real, Georgia Girl? 2800+ freshmen for the class of 2014! Craaaaazy. And they admitted more than for the class of 2013? I guess because there were more applicants, the percent admitted still went down from last year.</p>
<p>^ The target is 2,600 for the class of 2014. The numbers Georgia Girl gave you were for last year when more students accepted the offer of admission than anticipated (yay!). They reduced the number admitted a bit this year to try to hit the target of 2,600.</p>

<p>Vinceh, I feel like I should clarify for my own sake more than yours.</p>
<p>I am not “offended” that it’s not as selective as I determined. If anything offended me, and offended is a strong word, it’s the idea of being mislead and not the topic. I have never, ever, cared about selectivity. I applied to many schools with many different selectivity rates because I felt they were good matches for me. Do I think the information in the welcome book is slightly misleading? Yes. Do I know it’s a marketing technique? Yes. Did I fall for it and make my self look silly? Yes. Would I still be going to USC if the acceptance rate was 100%? Heck yes!</p>
<p>None of my post have anything to do with my decision to go to the school and the rate of acceptance did not influence my decision at all. In fact, I didn’t even think about it until after I committed. I simply saw information, albeit wrong information, found it interesting and started a thread about it.</p>
<p>You make it sound like I’m upset it’s not as hard to get into as HYP… when I am certainly not. Not at all, even slightly. Honestly, If I wanted that I would have applied to one of those schools. I didn’t.</p>
<p>I don’t want to come across as the type of person that chooses a school because it’s the hardest one to get into because that is not me at all.</p>

<p>Many highly respected colleges offer spring admission. In my opinion, it is a better system than having a long waiting list of students who have no chance of being admitted such as Duke has this year.</p>
<p>Other colleges I was able to find in a brief search that offer spring admission are:</p>

<p>One university offered admission to some students only if they took a semester abroad in fall of the freshmen year.</p>

<p>so 35,730/8,500= 23.8%</p>
<p>but they are also admitting 1000 for spring, if you add them in the number comes out to be around 26.6%</p>
<p>I’m also not bashing on spring admission at all, I’m just saying that the admissions rate isn’t the same when you add them in. I didn’t say anything about it being good or bad or prestigious or not, that is just irrelevant.</p>
