Opening up this thread so thoughts about spring admission could be centralized. Some people are thrilled to get into USC anyway they can, and others are disappointed with the thought of missing that freshman move in and first fall at their 4 year U. Some will save money taking classes at a cc, others may work, travel, or hang out. Some will say heck no and some will say heck yeah. No wrong answer, but perhaps spring admits would like to vent or share ideas on how to make the most of this situation.
Here ideas from USC on Spring Admission:

I’d literally be so so so happy even to get spring admission…PRAYING!!! FIGHT ON!!!
Same here, Spring admission is very welcome if that happens!
@CADREAMIN - Any idea how many of the 8200 (accepted) are Spring admits? Is it in 100s?
I have heard there are only a couple hundred spring admits. The links that explain the process are helpful on the USC website. Also, by mid-May they push some of the springs into fall starts…so that’s nice to hear too. I have had several friends kids do the spring start, and they’ve done CC, one did London, and another did Paris…they are happy well adjusted and integrated Juniors now and loving USC. We will be applying this next Fall 2018, so my son will be crossing his fingers! Good luck! Fight on!
I heard upwards of 700 from different sources, that would be an admitted number, but honestly I have no idea. I would think less than half take their spring admission so it would be good to know how many start in spring to figure how many are accepted.
My son got a spring admit to Marshall today.
My D also got the Spring Admit. Anyone have any experience with this or know what your child plans do in the Fall?
@996611momma Hi! i’m a senior and received my spring admission package yesterday. i’m still waiting on ivies and few other schools but usc is definitely my top choice for now. i actually have experience studying abroad and would love to do it again, so i think if i plan on going to usc, for the first semester i’ll study abroad and take classes that will count as credit toward usc and then begin at usc in the spring.
Anyone else feeling seriously conflicted? I got into USC for spring admit and it’s my dream school, but I also got into UCLA (my #2) and would only have to pay $7000 a year that I basically have paid through outside scholarships. I don’t know what to do at all. Please offer some insight lol
My son was admitted for Spring as well. Cinema and Media Studies. Nice to meet all of you. I am sure we will all have a few questions going forward.
I’m concerned about the “transition” to school - housing not with other freshman, not making friends, etc. if D decided to live down there during the Fall, I heard you can still go to football games. What about the other clubs, etc?
I too was concerned about the transition but we spoke to a freshman at USC now who is a family friend. She was a Spring admit and said it is awesome. She is completely assimilated. Should be just fine.
Hey! I was admitted and found out (3/23) for the spring of 2019! Here are my stats:
Major: Cinema and Media Studies
GPA: 4.0 (unweighted)/4.35 (weighted)
Production was my first choice, and Critical Studies/CMS was my second.
Anyone know anything about how they choose people to move to Fall Admission? Any info would be greatly appreciated. I don’t hold anything against Spring Admission, except that I want to graduate on time and don’t want to rush. I am just really grateful I got in, as in I stared crying when I found out I got in.
I really didn’t think I would get in, so I’m super nervous about it now.
Can’t wait to meet all of you! Go Trojans!!
I got in as a Spring Admit for CMS also, @BrianP9999!
I can connect you with my son. Congrats @TROJANSkywalker
How can you go to football games as a spring admit?
How do you private message in here?
Spring admits may purchase student section football passes. In the past, some Spring Admits have decided to live at one of USC’s private housing options, such as Gateway which is directly across the street from campus. For instance, last year several Spring Admits met on the Spring FB group and decided to be roommates. They took CC courses at Santa Monica CC, went to USC sports events, made friends, etc. January is here before you know it. Others have reported loving the study abroad options in London and Paris, especially because they bond really tightly and all hit campus together in January, having made Trojan friends from day one.
@madbean, If my son decides to go that is exactly what he would do. He would live at Gateway and take some gen ed classes at the community college. He knows several people that are doing that now. The only suggestion they had for him was to look into the technical cc right by campus because they said the ride to Santa Monica was kind of a pain.
