So i've been admitted into USC for the Spring semester and have also been accepted into BU, UCSD, GW Elliott and Northeastern. I have paid my deposit for Spring at USC but I was wondering if i could attend any of my other 4 universities just for the fall semester?

Do people do that and would the universities have a problem with me doing that?

Seems like a poor choice. I would consult with USC above all. If you would like to be productive during that time you might as well go to your local CC and get some classes out of the way for cheap. I just think it would be messed up taking a spot in another university that you just plan on dropping.

I know that UCSD is on the quarter system and that would not mesh well with USC’s semester system. And while it’s possible to do at schools that are on semesters, its generally frowned upon because you are taking away a freshman spot at one of those schools from someone else. Of course you could start at one of those schools and like it so much you decide not to transfer.

Would you be willing to tell those 4-year universities that you only intend on enrolling for a quarter or semester? If not, that should answer the question of whether it’s ethical

Go to a CC. That’s what they’re there for, and they’re cheaper than the 4-year colleges.

I stayed in my college (a UC) in the fall semester before I enrolled in USC for spring. I know a lot of people who did the same.

But I don’t see why you would go to a new school JUST for one semester, having to worry about meeting new friends, finding housing, paying high tuition etc. It makes a lot more sense if you go to a CA CC and get all those GEs/other USC requirements done before you officially go to USC. Besides, credits are much harder to transfer if it’s not a CA school.
