USC(spring admit) or U. Washington

I can't decide between USC and U. Washington. I would be a business major, and don't know if it's worth it to go to USC (spring admit). My family doesn't have enough money to pay for USC, but we could always get loans and I could pay it off if I got a good job after college. Does anyone know how the people and the social life at these schools are? Are people who go to USC as spring admits sort of out of the loop compared with the rest of the freshmen? Also does anyone know about the joint program between the business shcool and the film school at USC for people who want to become directors, producers... I would want to do that, but I hear its hard to get into, and not possible as a spring admit? Im worried that if I go to U. Wash. all my friends who went to USC will end up far better off just because they're part of the "trojan family", but i have lived in LA all my life and would like to live in a new environment. All info. would be appreciated, thanks.

macuser, i am in a similar boat. I am deciding between USC, occidental and UW, but i live in seattle. i am coming down to check out USC and oxy later this week. from what i have heard yes, the film school is very competive at USC, a couple of my friends were turned down there, but i am more interested in the engineering departments at the schools. none the less they are both great schools in nearly all departments. i figure that whereever i go, it is up to me to get good grades and that will open enough doors for a successful future, also, for me a year at USC or occidental is about the same as 4 at UW with the instate tuition.

another thing to consider that you mentioned is the "trojan family' i have heard many times over, its not what you know, its who you know. The 'trojan family' is not that big up here in the northwest, however UW has quite a few alumni in the area. My point here is that though USC and UW are both pretty big names nationally, they will probably open more doors in that particular area. (UW feed into northwestern companies and USC into companies more LA based).

finally, i would say that a job out of USC probably wont have you making THAT much more than a job with a UW degree, in order to pay of the debt from USC. if the social life is a big part of your choice, USC is probably quite a bit better than UW being in a city about 6 times the size of seattle, but i have not been to USC yet to tour, nor have i paid a whole lot of attention to the social life at UW. quite a few of my high school's graduates are going to UW, and that might make it somewhat clique-ish which you might not get at USC. check out www.studentsreview.com as well. I hope i was able to help somewhat, good luck!
